​​في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الرياضيات والإحصاء بكلية العلوم، أقام القسم ندوة علمية (سمنار) بعنوان:

Parameter Estimation of Some Lifetime Distributions Using Ranked Set Sampling

قدّمها سعادة الأستاذ الدكتور/ إبراهيم إبراهيم البطل، وذلك صباح اليوم الأربعاء الموافق 24/9/2025 م في تمام الساعة 8:00 صباحاً بقاعة 2-079B بالكلية.

وقد تناولت الندوة العلمية:

Ranked Set Sampling (RSS) is used as an efficient alternative to simple random sampling, especially in situations where measuring the variable of interest is costly, time-consuming, or destructive, while ranking samples is relatively easy, inexpensive, or non-destructive. RSS significantly improves the precision of statistical estimators, such as the mean or variance, without increasing the number of actual measurements. Overall, RSS provides a cost-effective and statistically efficient approach to data collection, making it highly valuable in research with limited resources or high measurement costs. Ranked Set Sampling (RSS) is widely used in agriculture to efficiently estimate crop yields or fruit weights. In medical research, RSS helps estimate average levels of biomarkers like blood sugar or cholesterol when lab tests are expensive. In industrial settings, RSS improves the accuracy of quality assessments when testing is destructive or expensive..

 حيث استعرض الدكتور إبراهيم البطل أبرز المحاور والنتائج ذات الصلة بالموضوع مقدماً طرحاً علمياً قيّماً أثار نقاشاً مثمراً بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطلاب الحاضرين.

وتأتي هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة الأنشطة العلمية التي يحرص قسم الرياضيات والإحصاء على تنظيمها بشكل دوري وذلك في إطار تعزيز النشاط البحثي والأكاديمي بالقسم وحرصاً على إتاحة الفرصة للتفاعل العلمي وتبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين وطلاب الدراسات العليا بالقسم.
