The Second Scientific Seminar in the Physics Department during the Second Semester Presented by Dr. Muhammad Benrabhah

The Scientific Committee in the Physics Department organized the second seminar of the department during the second semester of the academic year 1436/1437 A.H. entitled:

"Fabrication, Characterization and Applications of Silicon Nanostructures"

The seminar was thankfully presented by Dr. Muhammad Benrabhah, Associate Professor at Riyadh College of Technology, on Tuesday 14 Jumadda Al-Awwal 1437 A.H. corresponding to 23 February 2016 at 11:00 A.M. for half an hour. The seminar was followed by comments and questions from the audience.

The speaker began by giving an idea about silicon chips and the defects that affect their optical and electrical properties. Then the main points that have been discovered to deal with these problems were discussed such as using nano silicon materials which play a vital role in eliminating impurities either from the surface of silicon or within it.  The speaker revealed the results attained after diagnosing the manufactured samples by studying their optical and electrical properties.  The discussion focused on many points in which a number of faculty members of the department participated. It included the application side of the manufacturing method of this kind of samples, as well as the possibility of using them in many applications such as solar cells, optical stimulation or sensors.

This seminar is part of a weekly series of seminars organized by the Scientific Committee in the Physics Department and presented by faculty members of the department and researchers from other research bodies. These seminars aim at stimulating the academic climate of scientific research in the department, and informing the department staff and students of the latest advances in physical sciences in various fields.

It is noteworthy to mention that attending these seminars is open to all faculty members, employees and students of the university.
