    Word of Dean

    Chief Executive Officer's Speech

Since its inception in 1405 AH (1984 AD), the Applied College embarked on its journey under the name "Deanship of the University Center for Community Service & Continuing Education". Subsequently, a decision by the Provisional Education Committee transformed it into the "College of Continuing Education & Community Service". Later, a decision by the University Affairs Council elevated it to the status of an "Applied College". Thus, it has always been a towering edifice, a beacon of scientific enlightenment, knowledge enrichment, and training investment. Today, it stands as a project dedicated to developing skills and harnessing potential.

One of the most impactful and effective decisions made by the Ministry of Education was the restructuring of the educational system to better serve the needs of education. This decision played a significant role in advancing the educational process within educational institutions. The initiative to transform community colleges in Saudi universities into applied colleges, offering specialized programs in education, training, and qualification, to keep pace with the latest developments and requirements of the age, and to align with the needs of rapid and continuous development, as well as the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution for the local and global labor market, in partnership with all relevant local and international parties, by qualifying national cadres with diplomas equipped with professional certifications aligned with development goals, is indeed a promising transformation for the future and outputs of applied colleges.

This initiative aligns with the Vision's aspirations to achieve a thriving economy through education that drives national economic growth by developing specializations that equip high school graduates to enter and compete in the job market.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry's vision of providing exceptional education to build a globally competitive knowledge-based society by aligning learning outcomes and training outputs with the demands of the job market and the needs of various professions through targets from which these aspirations emit, such as targeted economic activities and competitive advantages, and by regulatory frameworks like the Saudi Classification of Professions and the National Employment Plan, as well as enablers such as providing knowledge, expanding vocational training, and improving equal opportunities.

Furthermore, this aligns with the aspirations of Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, as embodied by the keen interest and support provided by His Excellency the University President, His Eminence the Vice President for Educational Affairs, and all relevant officials, who have consistently prioritized the College's needs, requirements, and outcomes to achieve leadership in applied programs.

Furthermore, the Applied College aspires to attract individuals with scientific, practical, and training expertise, and to enhance community-based programs and diplomas. This is in line with the evolving role of education, which has expanded beyond knowledge acquisition to encompass the development of students' overall capabilities. It also aligns with the philosophy of higher education, which shapes the future by cultivating minds capable of creating and seizing opportunities.

The College was launched with a clear vision, strategy, and set of objectives. As a result, it has produced outstanding outcomes and graduates who have contributed significantly to the nation's development. The College has become a source of pride for all its graduates and has attracted individuals who are proud to be associated with it. This has been achieved through the collective efforts of dedicated academic and administrative staff, including deans, vice deans, and other personnel, since its inception. The college has established itself as a center of excellence and a leading institution for learners and trainees from both the public and private sectors.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency, Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al-Amri, the University President, and to the esteemed Vice Presidents, Deans, and heads of departments for their continuous support and encouragement of our college.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the college staff, including vice deans, faculty members, lecturers, teaching assistants, and administrative staff, for their dedicated efforts and commitment to serving the college and its students.

May Allah protect our religion, values, and country, and grant them continued prosperity and strengthen our wise Government.

Chief Executive Officer of the Applied College

    Dr. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Saloum
