Dedicated Training on Social Aspects of Sustainability

The Center for Voluntary Work Studies is carrying out a workshop on the value of volunteer work and its impact on the individual and society

 On Tuesday evening, 29/6/2021 AD, the Center for Voluntary Work Studies organized a workshop entitled: (The Value of Volunteer Work and its Impact on the Individual and Society), presented by Dr. Maryam Abdullah Saeed Baqazi is a faculty member in the Department of Faith and Contemporary Doctrines of the College of Fundamentals of Religion at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, and a member of the Saudi Scientific Society for Doctrine and Contemporary Doctrines.

In general, the workshop aimed at explaining the value of voluntary work in Islam and encouraging its work, instilling the concept of voluntary initiative, and showing its fruits, with an indication of its effects on the individual and society, in addition to promoting the culture of volunteering in societies, and creating a cooperative human spirit among members of the same society. The workshop, which was presented virtually via the "Microsoft Teams" platform, contained several main axes, the most important of which are: the definition of volunteer work, an explanation of its value, motives, fields, basics and fruits, and the effects of volunteer work on the individual and society and its obstacles.

She cited Dr. Baqazi cites verses from the Holy Qur'an and Prophetic hadiths that urge volunteer work in various fields of volunteer work, and hastening to do good deeds.

The workshop concluded with examples of volunteer work, explaining this with practical activity.​

The Center for Voluntary Work Studies at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University  held a virtual meeting yesterday evening (Monday), corresponding to 25/11/1442 AH, entitled: (Innovative Thinking in Voluntary Work) for Dr. Latifa Muhammad Al-Mushaiq, Assistant Professor at the University's College of Education.

Dr. Al-Mushaiqeh opened the meeting by talking about the concept of innovation, its elements, and its management in creating an appropriate atmosphere and environment, and the contribution to innovation represented in the best way to get an innovative idea, which is to have a lot of ideas, explaining its importance, which lies in the development of personal skills in thinking and collective interaction, Increasing the quality of decisions that address work environment problems, as well as improving the quality of products, creating and enhancing the competitiveness of the organization, and finding ways to activate and increase the volume of sales.

She mentioned its types, including technical, administrative, and organizational factors affecting it, such as: the organization's strategy, leadership and management style, and the four stages of innovation, which are the development of strategy, visualization, evaluation and finally implementation, then I talked about the aspects of innovation and steps to solve problems in creative ways. The doctor also touched on the importance of finding solutions by focusing on new and diverse ideas, searching for unconventional and unfamiliar ideas with expansion and flexibility, and mixing ideas with each other to reach the best solutions by refining ideas, evaluating them and choosing the best ones, taking into account the conditions of innovation such as intellectual fluency and spontaneous flexibility. And originality and the ability to deviate from the distance, and showed the obstacles to innovation, which are personal, circumstantial and social obstacles.

In the two-hour meeting, through the (Times) program, Dr. Al-Mushaiq discussed the importance of thinking in solving problems, achieving goals and the importance of using creative thinking in solving them, types of thinking and finally creative thinking and its skills, and the relationship between feelings and thinking, as well as the three thinking theories, namely: behavioral theory, Analytical, cognitive.

She concluded her speech by reviewing some suggestions for ways of thinking, including: going to places where you become more creative, making a lot of mind maps, drawing something and then writing about it, trusting intuition, and finally struggling and working hard. She also thanked the organizers of the meeting and opened the way for discussion and inquiries on the subject.
