Start of the program:

The Department of Accounting began as a division in the Department of Islamic Economics according to the College of Sharia at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in 1398 AH and was a practical evidence of the university's interaction with the developments and problems of the era, and a witness to the university's commitment to its pioneering mission in the Islamic treatment of these developments.

From the outset, the department's programs reflected the university's keenness to prepare distinguished researchers in the field of finance and business and to respond to the growing demand for qualifying qualified economists to meet the requirements of the public and private sectors.

Hence, the Department of Accounting was established as a scientific department in the College of Economics and Administrative Sciences on 25/4/1427 AH to contribute to the leading role played by the university in meeting the growing demand for qualified cadres that meet the qualitative requirements of the financial services industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 Total credit hours required to complete the program:

 167 credit hours

Department Vision

Department mission:

Providing distinguished academic programs in the field of accounting and producing distinguished research, within an environment that keeps pace with the latest developments in accounting and the requirements of sustainable development, to prepare outputs that meet the needs of the labor market and contribute to building the knowledge economy and serving society.

 

Objectives of the accounting department:

1- Developing the educational process in accordance with the latest developments in the field of accounting

2-Preparing competitive outcomes in the accounting specialty

3-Supporting the research capabilities of department members and students and strengthening research partnerships

4-Enhancing community contributions to support community service.

5-Supporting sustainable development by exploiting the resources available to the department.

Program Admission Requirements:

There are no admission requirements except what the college requires, which is that the student obtains an equivalent percentage of at least 90% in the high school exams and passes the measurement test with a score of not less than 70%.

Admission requires the following conditions:

-First: General conditions for admission to the university announced by the Deanship of Admission and Registration for all colleges:

- Second: Special conditions for the college:      

- Obtaining the required average in high school and passing aptitude tests

- Passing the preparatory year of the college

The transfer of a student from another program in the college to the accounting program can be accepted with specific controls, which are:

- The student must complete the courses of the joint semesters with a minimum of (76) hours.

- The student's GPA should not be less than 3.75 out of 5.00

- The department's approval of the transfer based on the department's absorptive capacity and the result of the interview.
