The Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) was recently established at the College of Engineering following the improvement efforts adopted by Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU), among which more focus is given to embracing innovative and contemporary scientific disciplines. Moreover, the addition of IE as an independent major was accomplished in harmony with the industrial and economic developments that our country is going through and taking into account the needs of the local labor market. Our prestigious university set out to develop the IE department to mainly accord with the objectives and guidelines set by the blessed Kingdom's Vision 2030, which focuses on the industrial sector as a crucial foundation that strengthens the Saudi economy and diversifies its sources of income.
In conformity with these principles, the IE department was launched based on distinguished standards that adhere to the originality of the IE specialty while providing a high-quality educational experience. This was achieved by extensive consultations with specialists in the same field during the construction of the program specifications and study plan. Pertaining to the study plan of the IE program and its curriculum contents, it was designed to meet the needs of the beneficiary sectors in the labor market in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, while sustaining up-to-date technologies. The College of Engineering, with the support and guidance of the IMSIU administration, works hard to furnish the IE department with distinguished and highly qualified faculty members with valuable experiences. Likewise, the university is working to equip the department with the needed practical and computer laboratories that qualify the department's students to compete proficiently in the fields of advanced technology when they commence their careers.
