Laboratories of Mechanical Engineering Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering houses eight state-of-the-art facilities equipped with advanced technology to support our academic curriculum and research initiatives. They include four dedicated teaching laboratories, an advanced research lab, two project labs, and a computational facility.
Materials Testing Lab (BR 78) – Teaching lab
The Materials Testing Lab (MTL) is utilized for ME 1213 Mechanics of Materials Lab course. This is fundamentally a teaching lab, however, it is also used for research in the domain of mechanical characterization. The following equipment is available in the laboratory:- Torsion and Deflection: 1 unit
- Universal Testing Machine: 2 units
- Universal Hardness testing machine: 1 unit
- Impact tester: 2 units (small and large capacities)
- Creep testing Machine: 1 unit
- Fatigue testing Machine: 1 unit
- Buckling Tester Apparatus: 1 unit
- Hooke’s Law Apparatus: 1 unit
- Symmetrical Bending Apparatus: 1 unit
- Unsymmetrical Bending Apparatus: 1 unit
- Automated Torsion Tester: 1 unit

Manufacturing Technology Lab (BR 74) – Teaching lab
Manufacturing Technology Lab (MaTL)is used for ME 1363 Manufacturing Technology Lab course. This is fundamentally a teaching lab, however, it is also used for graduation projects. The following equipment is available in the laboratory:- CNC lathe machine: 1 unit
- Measurement and Metrology Kits: 1 set
- Roll bending machine: 1 unit
- Force cutting measurement: 2 units
- Tool making microscope: 1 unit

Thermo-fluids Lab (GR 35) – Teaching lab
Thermo-fluids Lab (TFL) is used for ME 1322 Thermo-fluids Lab course. This is primarily a teaching lab, however, it is also used for graduation projects The following equipment is available in the laboratory:- Dead Weight Tester: 1 unit

Heat Transfer Lab (GR 40) – Teaching lab
Heat Transfer Lab (HTL)is utilized for ME 1325 Heat Transfer Lab course. This is primarily a teaching lab. There following equipment is available in the laboratory:- Computer controlled linear heat conduction: 1 unit
- Computer controlled radial heat conduction: 1 unit
- Heat transfer service unit: 1 unit
- Computer controlled combined convection and radiation: 1 unit
- Laws of radiant heat transfer and heat exchange: 1 unit

Power Engineering Lab (BR 66) – Research lab
Power Engineering Lab (PEL) is fundamentally a research lab, however, it is also partially utilized in ME 1444 Gas Turbine course as an embedded lab. The following equipment is available in the lab:- Gas turbine: 1 unit
- Gas turbine module: 1 unit
- Two-stage piston compressor: 1 unit
- Two-stage air compressor simulator: 1 unit
- Hydraulic servo system: 1 unit
- Circulating pumps training panel: 1 unit
Equipment in Power Engineering Lab
HVAC Lab (GR 38) – Project lab
HVAC lab is fundamentally designated as project lab, however, it is also partially utilized in ME 1451 HVAC systems course as an embedded lab. There following equipment is available in the lab:- Ventilation system with controlled unit: 1 unit (temporarily placed in BR 66)
- Air conditioning and ventilation systems: 1 unit (temporarily placed in BR 66)
- Steam humidifier panel: 1 unit (Placed in BR 66)
- Compression refrigeration circuit: 1 unit
- Safety devices training panel: 1 unit
- Forced air gas burner training panel: 1 unit
- Three way mixing valve training panel: 1 unit

Process Controls Lab (GR 38) – Project lab
Process Controls Lab (PCL) is fundamentally nominated as project lab, however, it is also partially utilized in ME 1334 Automatic Control course as an embedded lab. The following equipment are available in the lab:- Speed control unit (motor rotor system): 1 unit
- Linear position control unit: 1 unit
- Process trainer equipment: 1 unit
- Equipment for demonstration of fundamental principles of process control engineering: 1 unit

Computing Lab (SR 142)
The Computer Lab of Mechanical Engineering Department is shared with Electrical Engineering Department. The general purpose computer lab (SR 142) has 35 PCs. All are certified platforms for AutoCAD, Ansys, MATLAB, and several additional software packages. Computers installed in formal lab areas are available for general use during ‘off hours’ of courses.Computing Lab
