Transfer Students and Transfer Courses
Based on Articles No. 23-25 of the University Executive Rules (UER-1444) and in addition to the transfer guidelines issued by the College of Engineering council (Letter No 20427/03-04-1445), transfer can be classified as:
- Transfers between departments within the College of Engineering
- Transfers from other scientific colleges to the College of Engineering
- Transfers from outside the university to the College of Engineering
1. Transfer between departments:
- The cumulative GPA must not be less than 3.75 out of 5.00.
- The student must have completed at least one academic year in the current department before requesting a transfer.
- A student is allowed to transfer only once from one department to another.

- Approval of both the department council and the college council is required and is subject to the department's capacity.
- All completed courses by a student transferring from his previous department within the university will be recorded in the academic transcript. However, only the courses recognized as equivalent (to his new study plan) for credit in the new program will count toward the cumulative GPA.
- Course equivalency is determined by the relevant academic departments and is processed automatically for all students through the Deanship of Admissions and Registration.
- Course equivalency is based on the curriculum of the same academic program and must be approved by the college council.
2. Transfer from a scientific college to the College of Engineering:
- Transfers are accepted from scientific colleges such as Science, Computer Science, and Medicine.
- The student must have completed one full academic year in the college they wish to transfer.
- The cumulative GPA must be 4.50 out of 5.00 or higher.
- The student must have earned a grade of B or higher in scientific courses such as Mathematics and Physics.
- The transfer is subject to the approval of both the department and college councils, based on the department's capacity.
- The student must submit the transfer request via the online self-service portal within the time frame specified in the academic calendar.
- A student is not allowed to transfer more than once during their academic studies.
- All completed courses by a student transferring from his previous college within the university will be recorded in the academic transcript.
3. Transfer from outside the university to the College of Engineering:
- The student must be enrolled at a recognized university and must not have been dismissed for disciplinary or academic reasons.
- Transfers are accepted only from scientific colleges (Engineering, Science, Computer Science, Medicine).
- The student must have completed one full academic year at the institution from which they are transferring.
- The cumulative GPA must not be less than 4.25 out of 5.00.
- The student must have achieved at least 85% in the General Aptitude Test (Qiyas).
- The student must have achieved at least 85% in the Achievement Test (Tahseeli).
- The student must have obtained a grade of B or higher in scientific subjects (Mathematics and Physics).
- A maximum of 40% of the total credit hours in the target program may be transferred.
- Transfer requests are subject to the approval of the department and college councils, based on both the student's GPA and the department's capacity.
Transfer Credit:
Based on Article No. 28 of the University Executive Rules (UER-1444), a visiting student is one who enrolls in specific courses at another university or a branch campus of their home university, without formally transferring, and based on prior official approval from their home university or college. The acceptance and registration process follows the university's applicable regulations and must comply with the following conditions:
- The college must approve external study after reviewing the course syllabi and ensuring that there is a minimum of 75% equivalence in course content that matches the University's corresponding courses.
- The courses must be taken at a recognized college or university within the Kingdom.
- The total number of credit hours studied outside the university must not exceed 20% of the student's total degree plan.
- The student must have completed at least one academic semester at their home university before applying to study as a visiting student.
- Approval for visiting study must be issued by the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, upon recommendation from the college.
- The student must submit the official transcript from the host university to the Deanship of Admissions and Registration within two weeks from the beginning of the first semester following the visiting period.
- The student's grade in the course to be transferred must be not less than (C).
- If the visiting study is conducted at a branch campus of the home university, the courses will be recorded in the student's transcript and included in the cumulative GPA.
- If the visiting study is conducted at an external university, the courses will be credited and recorded in the academic transcript but not counted toward the cumulative GPA.
