Under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency the University President and with the diligent oversight of both the College and Student Affairs Deanships, a student team from the College of Engineering has successfully secured participation in the Fourteenth Engineering Forum 2024.
The vibrant atmosphere of the 14th Engineering Gathering, hosted by Sultan Qaboos University's engineering society from April 21 to 24, 2024, provided an exceptional platform for students worldwide to showcase their ingenuity through a diverse array of engineering projects. After a meticulous screening and evaluation process, a select group of initiatives earned the privilege of presentation.
Distinguished senior faculty members gathered to meticulously evaluate each project, adhering to rigorous criteria to make informed decisions. Among the participants were Abdulrahman Al-Shammari and Salman Al-Harbi, representing Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University's Mechanical Engineering Department (MED). Under the expert guidance of Dr. Maaz Akhtar, Associate Professor at the MED, they presented their project titled "Design and Fabrication of Portable Wear Measurement Machine Used for Sustainable Development." The project's core objective is to develop a portable wear measurement device capable of assessing the wear rate of various materials, thus contributing significantly to sustainability efforts. This endeavor involves designing and manufacturing cost-effective, portable, and efficient pin-on-disc wear assessment equipment tailored for research purposes.
The 14th Engineering Gathering stands as a testament to the innovative spirit and collaborative endeavors of students dedicated to advancing engineering solutions for a sustainable future.
