Student Guidance Unit
The Student Guidance Unit is the entity responsible for providing academic, social, psychological and professional guidance services to college students.
Unit tasks
- Preparing the unit’s operational plan and following up on its implementation.
- Preparing academic, social, psychological and professional guidance plans at the college and following up on their implementation.
- Introducing male and female students to the student guidance services available at the college and how to benefit from them.
- Observing and monitoring academic, social and psychological problems and coordinating with the relevant authorities at the university to identify ways to address and reduce them.
- Coordinating with the relevant authorities at the university to provide preventive and therapeutic awareness programmes for college students that suit their needs and help them confront academic, social and psychological problems.
- Educating new students about the rules, regulations, procedures, rights and duties.
- Addressing students’ problems related to registration, schedules and study plans.
- Addressing the academic problems of male and female students that are raised by advisors and coordinating this with the college administration.
- Considering the academic complaints of male and female students and working to resolve them in cooperation with the academic departments or submitting them to the college administration - if necessary.
- Identifying gifted and distinguished male and female students, encouraging and caring for them.
- Identifying students who are struggling academically and addressing their academic problems.
- Identifying and caring for male and female students with social, psychological or health conditions, and providing what is necessary to solve their problems in coordination with the relevant authorities at the university.
- Providing career guidance services to college students.
- Cooperating with employment agencies related to the college’s specializations to find job opportunities and appropriate vocational training for college graduates.
- Coordinating the establishment of training programs on general and specialized skills to prepare college graduates for the labor market.
- Coordinating to hold a career day, or actively participating in a career day forum with the Deanship of Student Affairs.
- Conducting surveys of the opinions of faculty and administrative staff/students regarding the college’s guidance services, analyzing them, and preparing related reports.
- Preparing quarterly reports on the unit’s work, difficulties – if any – and proposals for improvement and development.
- Educating male and female students about their rights and duties in accordance with the rules of student conduct and discipline at the university.
