World Arabic Language Day - 18 December Contributions of Arabic Language to Human Civilization and Culture


  ​        King Abdullah Institute for Translation and Arabization held a seminar on World Arabic Language Day entitled "Contributions of Arabic Language to Human Civilization and Culture" on Sunday, December 18.

Director of King Abdullah Institute for Translation and Arabization, Dr. Muhammad Al-Enezi began the seminar by speaking about the importance of celebrating the World Arabic Language Day and its role in supporting the translation and Arabization movement. He, then, presented the speakers in the seminar, who were Dr. Ahmed Al-Banyan, founder and former director of King Abdullah Institute for Translation and Arabization, Dr. Salem Al-Samiri, and Dr. Asma Al-Quneair.

     Dr. Ahmed Al-Banyan highlighted the most prominent challenges in Arabization and the promotion of identity. Then, Dr. Salem Al-Samiri, assistant professor of literature at the College of Arabic Language and vice dean of the Deanship of Higher Studies for Counsel Affairs, spoke of the contributions of Arabic to human civilizations and cultures. Following that, Dr. Asma Al-Quneair, assistant professor of translation studies at Prince Norah University, discussed the main methods and strategies of translation from different languages into Arabic and about the importance of the translator's role in applying them.
