​Academic Counselling Unit

The Academic Counselling Unit​ is responsible for providing academic, social, psychological, and occupational counsell​ing services to the students of the college.

Assigned Tasks

​The unit members are responsible for:​

  • Setting up the operational plan of the unit and following up on the execution of this plan.
  • Preparing the academic, social, psychological, and occupational guidance plans and following up the executive steps of these plans.
  • Introducing male and female students to the counsell​ing services provided by the unit and how to benefit from them.
  • Monitoring the academic, social and psychological problems facing the students, and coordinating with the concerned authorities at the university to identify solutions to overcome and restrict these problems.
  • Coordination with the respective authorities at the university to provide preventive awareness programs that are convenient and helpful for the students to confront academic, social, and psychological problems.
  • Developing the awareness of the recently enrolled male and female students about the rules and regulations, procedures, rights and duties.
  • Resolving the problems, related to registration, schedules, and study plans, facing male and female students.
  • Resolving the students' academic problems raised by the counsellors and coordinating with the college administration in this regard.
  • Investigating the academic complaints facing male and female students and resolving them in cooperation with the academic departments or submitting them to the college administration in cases necessitating this action.
  • Identifying the academically distinguished and gifted male and female students and acting to encourage and care for them.
  • Identifying students who are facing a degree of academic failure and relieving their academic problems.
  • Identifying male and female students with social, psychological, or health conditions, and providing care and striving to solve their problems in coordination with the concerned authorities at the university.
  • Providing the occupational guidance services to the college students.
  • Cooperating with the various entities related to the college's specializations to get the available job opportunities and provide appropriate training for the college graduates.
  • Coordinating to establish training programs that aim to equip the graduate students with general and specialized skills as a step to prepare them for the labo​r market.
  • Coordinating to hold a Career Day, or actively participating in the "Career Day Forum" in association with the "Deanship of Student Affairs".
  • Conducting opinion polls for members of the educational and administrative staff/students, about the college counselling services, and subsequently analyzing the resulting data, and preparing the related reports.
  • Preparing quarterly reports on the progress of work in the unit and the possible difficulties and proposing action plans for improvement and development.
  • Developing the awareness of male and female students about their rights and duties per the university rules related to student conduct and discipline.
