His Excellency Prof. Suleiman Abalkhail's Speech on Inaugurating the Website of the Physics Department of the College of Science
Al-Imam University Rector , his Excellency Prof. Suleiman Abalkhail congratulated the Physics Department of the College of Science on signing a cooperation agreement with Google company as the first Arab university achievement. The university's logo will be listed among those of the unversities cooperating with Google.
That was during his excellency's inauguration of the interactive website of the Physics Department of the College of Science at his office recently with the presence of the College Dean Dr. Babatin, the College Vice-Dean for students affairs Dr. Alqa'ud, the Head of the Physics Department Dr. Rajehi, and a number of the Department staff members.
His Excellency, Dr. Abalkhail congratulated the Physics Department of the College of Science for their pioneering step and its effects and fruits will be reflected on the Faculty staff and students. He called for generalizing the idea to other university faculties and departments, which has become a necessity of learning and teaching. He added: You have provided great glories by using technology in the educational process which goes with applications of e-government for which the Custodian of the Two holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz called.
His excellency,the University Rector thanked God first for the graces He Almighty blessed this country. Then He thanked the ruling people on top of whom is His majesty the late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Salman Ibn Abdulaziz, and Deputy Crown Prince Meqren Ibn Abdulaziz for all they have given to the sons and daughters of this great country and their participation in preserving its unity, privileges and holy places.
The Dean of the College of Science, Dr Babatin stated that the electronic site is a new creation and not applied in Arab universities. He added that Al-Imam University is the first at the Middle East level to realize this achievement, which provides extra privileges on the email in Google compared to regular mail.
Dr. Babatin explained that the electronic site consists of: Complete smart detection, scientific forums between male and female students concerning staff members, evaluation, videos, assimilation system (for experiments and lectures), agreements and support resources.
The Head of the Physics Department, Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Alrajehi stated that among the objectives of the website of thePhysics Department are: activating the electronic management of university education at the Department, providing overview of the Department, following up the learning / teaching process, taking students' electronic attendance through the complete smart detection, notifying parents and Department staff about students attendance, achieving the principle of fairness and equality among students regarding class deprivation and fast crediting of banned students.
Dr. Al-Tweijeri added that among the objectives of the website are the following: Knowing the rate of quality of the educational process during the semester, transparency of dealing between instructors and students and facilitating communication and exchanging views among staff members through their own club. In addition, it can enhance the exchange of thoughts and form research groups in different scientific areas in the scientific club, which is very efficient in increasing the scientific output of the Physics Department in particular and the College of Science in general. Furthermore, the website enhances the activation of the academic advisory process to help students in their academic and social problems through student forum (male and female); It provides a clear and practical mechanism in assessing job performance of staff members; archives of all semester works of the Department, including decisions and councils; explains committee work and objectives; Keeps all data in secure electronic files; facilitates female students communication with staff members through course material forum, collective benefit of students through knowing their colleagues' questions at course material forum and instructor answers, use of modern methods such as assimilations and data charts which are very important for understanding courses clearly. It also provides students with a supported email from Google as it helps them in educational and research process. It has modern technological means of all kinds.
