The Department of Chemistry - female section - presented a lecture titled “Patent, ways to protect it”

The Chemistry Club in the Department of Chemistry Female section at IMSIU organized a short lecture titled:

 "Patent, ways to protect it". The lecture was presented by: Amal-Mohammed Al-Shehri, at 9:30 am at the theatre (1C-51), building 323. The aim was to raise the students' awareness regarding the importance of protecting intellectual property rights, including protecting the idea of invention by obtaining a patent from King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, represented by Saudi Patents Office, as well as encouraging students to  reflect and be creative to solve the problem of the classification of inventions . Many concepts were discussed and explained, including:

1- Invention.

2- Patents.

3- The entity responsible for granting patents.

4- The conditions for obtaining patents and the reasons that prevent granting patents.

5- Can the patent be granted to more than one inventor?

6- The validity of the patent and the fees paid for it.

7- What makes an idea worthy of being patented?

The website is affiliated to the Saudi Patent Office in King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. This was supported by a video clip for clarification.

The lecture was well-received and appreciated by everyone. The audience was active and involved in asking questions. There was a wonderful reaction to the information that was presented in the lecture. The majority encouraged holding such enriching activities that open students' minds and strengthen their awareness in the future.

At the end, everyone thanked Ms. Arwa al Mubarak Al-Qahtani for giving this opportunity and continuously supporting such enriching activities. Ms. Al-Qahtani also thanked the distinguished student Amal Al-Shihri for her creativity and performance in presenting the information.
