The Department of Physics - female branch - organized the first seminar of the second semester of the academic year 1438/1437 AH. The seminar was titled: "Processing and Characterization of Organic Solar Cells".
The seminar was presented by Dr. Zakiyyah Fkay, on Wednesday 1 Rajab 1438 AH, corresponding to 29 March 2017, at 09:15 AM. The session lasted half an hour. The seminar was followed by a discussion and questions from the audience.
The introduction to the seminar began with a demonstration of how organic photovoltaic cells were manufactured by polymer-coated gyro plated in quantitative and gravitational points. The active polymer layer was placed between two metal layers of indium oxide and tin as an aluminum oxide such as cathode over the glass slides and then to the polymer. The seminar also examined the spectral properties of the individual quantitative points as well as the thin films prepared for the mixture (from a substance of gasoline at a rotational speed of up to 6000 rpm) by the optical spectrometer. Polymer's optical light was also recorded before and after vaccination
The discussion covered several points in which a number of faculty members participated. The discussion included the electrical properties of the manufactured cells, and how the addition of the quantitative points and the graphene contributed to increasing the efficiency of the grafted cells compared with the cells manufactured from the polymer without additives. This seminar is part of a series of seminars organized by the Department of Physics and presented by the faculty members of the department. Vice head of the department Ms. Mervat Al-Zumay' is the supervisor of the series and the designer of the banners, and Ms. Hana' Al-Jam'ey, secretary of the department, is the coordinator and manager.
The aim of these seminars is to stimulate the scientific research atmosphere in the department and to keep its staff updated on the latest findings of the physical sciences in various fields.
It is worth mentioning that all university staff including faculty members, employees, and students are allowed to attend these seminars.
