The Mathematics and Statistics Department held an "educational meeting" with students of the Department on Tuesday 26/2/1437 AH, corresponding to 8/12/2015 AD, around 9 a.m. It was held in the Main Hall in the College about the approaching finals. Such meetings are sponsored by H.E. Dr. Muhammad Babtain, Dean of the College, who always urges all departments and faculty members to make every effort in helping students and providing suitable educational environment that will help them promote their achievements and understanding of all courses by motivating them to learn, communicating with them, and solving their problems immediately.

The following faculty members attended the meeting with students: H.E. Dr. Rubaiya Turki Al-Qahtani, Head of Mathematics and Statistics Department, and a group of faculty members of the department, including: Dr. Nabil Kardeed, Dr. Muhammad Saidati, Dr. Saed Al-Manouni, Dr. Muhammad Masoudi, Dr. Anis Gherbal, Dr. Ahmad Al-Rifai, Dr. Abdulwahid Al-Khalil.

Dr. Ahmad Al-Rifai  presented, at the beginning of the meeting, a lecture on "Art of Study and Pass in Exams," which has included the following: Significant tips on study preparations, including how to develop an effective study schedule and what to do during study. The presentation also included the art of answering exams questions, including: Important things to be done before starting answering, how to answer correctly, and what to do after completing the exam questions.

H.E. Dr. Rubaiya Turki Al-Qahtani, Head of Mathematics and Statistics Department, presented some issues to be taken into consideration by students during exams. First, right answer specifications to be applied, including reading the question carefully, trying to understand before starting to answer, writing down the necessary data to answer (i.e., formulas), and revising the final answer to make sure of its accuracy. Second, common exam mistakes to be avoided, including leaving some parts of questions blank, starting with difficult ones, not dividing time to cover all exam questions, and not devoting sometime in the beginning for reading questions or in the end for revising answers.  He concluded his speech by clarifying some important matters to explain to students  how to obtain high GPA, including: acquiring the art of study and dealing with exams, checking out previous exams questions to benefit from, consulting  the course instructor when facing unclear parts of the course during office hours without hesitation, choosing excellent students to be friends with and getting rid of lazy ones to get motivated, devoting at least 4 hours a day for study before exams, playing sport and taking breaks every now and then, avoiding TV channels and the Internet especially during exams periods, organizing sleeping hours to ensure mental and physical comfort, and reading.

Dr. Rubaiya Al-Qahtani, Head of the Mathematics and Statistics Department, addressed students' questions and problems related to some of the courses at the end of the meeting and answered them. He also promised them to conduct other similar meetings for their importance. The meeting ended around 10 a.m., praying sincerely for our students and wishing them luck, success, and excellent performance in their exams.
