The Physics Department organized a competition in thinking, logic, and intelligence games, on Monday and Tuesday 18-19/2/1437 AH, corresponding to 30/11/2015 and 1/12/2015 AD, using "Play and Learn with Me" as a slogan. It was supervised by Dr. Jabir Al-Ghoul. The activity was attended by a group of College students and elite faculty members in the Department, led by Dr. Ahmad Al-Qaoud, the Head of the Department, Dr. Raed Al-Hathlool, Vice Dean of the College for Development and Quality, and Dr. Ibrahim Al-Hamarneh, Deputy Head of the Department.
This activity is part of the Scientific Committee activities for students in Physics Department. These activities aim at enhancing and developing the scientific and intellectual levels, refreshing students' mental abilities and improving their creative talent, and facilitating their interaction with scientific and educational activities in the Department in particular, and the College in general. Further, they aim at facilitating contact between students and faculty members in order to prepare students to be distinctive individuals in order to contribute in building a positive society in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; in addition to creating a purposeful competitive atmosphere among students as a first step, which may increase into social, physical, and other competitions in the future.
The competition took place in an excellent and enthusiastic atmosphere due to the attendance and interaction of a large number of students, and everyone rejoiced at this initiative. Moreover, Dr. Ahmad Al-Qaoud, Head of the Department, commended the students' role in contributing to the scientific and intellectual activity in the department.
This competition consisted of three events:
The first one: Colorpop
The second one: Quarto
The third one: Quixo
Four students were selected for each competition. Semifinals and finals were conducted on day one and day two, respectively. The winners are Abdullah Jamaan Al-Zahrani, Rayan Ibrahim Al-Buaijan, and Mishary Majed Al-Mugrin.
In the end, faculty members urged students to enjoy their specialization (Physics) through joining entertaining and intellectual activities and participating more in scientific and educational events.
Dr. Al-Qaoud expressed his thankfulness and appreciation to H.E. Dr. Raed Al-Hathlool, Chair of the Scientific Committee in the Department, for supervising such distinctive activities, in addition to Dr. Jabir Al-Goul, the organizer of the competition, for his good efforts to organize and follow up the competition. He also thanked Mr. Moez Abdulfattah for his cooperation in organizing the competition. On the other hand, he voiced his hope to see the Department organize future events with the involvement of students, and faculty and staff members.
