The ceremony of the seventh session of Research Excellence Award for the academic year 1436/1437 AH, was held Tuesday morning, 7/5/1437 AH under the patronage of Al Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University acting rector Dr. Al-Fawzan., Dr. AlFawzan also gave incentives for the fourth session of International Publishing Program, in Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Twaijri Hall at the Conference Building and Hall "B" for women.
At the beginning of the Ceremony, Professor Fahad Abdulaziz Al-Asker, Vice Rector of the University for Higher Studies and Scientific Research and Head of the Award Committee, started by saying: We meet today after the University experience in the field of honoring excellent researchers in scientific publishing has materialized. This year, the Ceremony is witnessing a new experience of the Award of Excellence. Now, it is independent and customized for publishing only in Arabic as well as introducing more awards, where three awards have been allocated for each research. In addition, International Publishing incentives have been modified and given to excellent researchers who publish the largest number of papers in distinctive journals. The winning of three colleagues among female faculty is also an indication of excellence. One of them has won the Excellence Award in the field of Sharia Sciences and the other two have won or received incentives for Excellence in International Publishing. Obviously, this shows that the impact of these incentives and awards is positive in terms of encouraging male and female faculty members.
Dr. Al-Asker pointed out that the university is moving forward in being interested in scientific research and looking forward to launching Arabic Citations Index (ACI). This dream project will help to complete the International Publishing Program and will stress the University status in scientific research and provision of all helpful ways and scientific centers specialized in this field for researchers and talented faculty to enrich their specializations and honor and distinguish excellent researchers on an objective basis that the Arab experience lacks.
Then, Dr. Abdulrahman Ibn Abdulaziz Al-Moqbel, Dean of Academic Research, stated as saying: We are meeting today to honor a group of faculty members who were distinguished regarding their scientific and research contributions in recognition on the part of the university of their role in community service. In addition to encouraging them to pursue their efforts in conducting pioneering research in various specializations. The number of prizes has been increased from one to three in this session of Award in order to encourage scientific research. These prizes are considered as an incentive for the ambitious scientific program and a fertile field for fair competition which every participant aspires to experience.
He also indicated that the Award is considered as one of the motivations for creativity and excellence in scientific research in the University and an encouragement for researchers to pursue further in-depth research and. He also added that the University is distinguished in International Publishing through the publications of its staff in scientific journals.
He then announced the winners: The first winner of Excellent Research Award in Sharia Sciences published at the University in Arabic language, is Dr. Abdulkareem Muhammad Ahmad Al-Ismail's research entitled, "The Extent a Customer Deserves the Penalty Sum in Cases the Manufacturer Breaches the Contract Commitment in Islamic Jurisprudence." The second winner is Professor Yousuf Abdullah Muhammad Al-Khudhair's research entitled, "Commercial Reinstatement - Provisions and Procedures: A Comparative Study in Islamic Jurisprudence." Third winner is Professor Amaal Abdulaziz Muhammad Al-Amr's research entitled, "Atheistic Explications of the Origin of the Universe: Review and Refutation." Winner of the Arabic language Award is Dr. Muhammad Abdulkareem Abanumay's research entitled, "UHboolat Al-Hamadhani Al-Ibda`iyyah Al-Kubra: Qiraa,ah fi Al-Seerah Al-Thaqafiyyah Al-MuDHmarah fi Maqaamaatih."
Dr. Raad Abdullah Al-Turki, Vice Dean for Cultural Affairs at the Deanship of Scientific Research and Supervisor of the International Publishing Unit, clarified that participating scientific research works this year amount to more than 300 where 200 requests were accepted, with an increase of 37% compared with last year. Most participating studies were submitted by the College of
Science. Moreover, there were female participants this year, which is a positive sign. Then, he announced the names of those who have obtained excellence incentives in the field of International Publishing. They are Professor Lassaad Mabrouk Hussein (Professor in Physics Department, College of Science) who has participated in 27 research works, Dr. Kamal Abduljawwad Idris (Associate Professor in the Physics Department, College of Science) who has participated in 9 research works, and Dr. Muhammad Khadhar (Associate Professor in Mathematics Department, College of Science). In addition, the College of Science who was awarded for its contribution in the International Publishing field.
On the other hand, Dr. Fawzan Ibn Abdulrahman Al-Fawzan, Acting Rector of the University and Sponsor of the Ceremony, congratulated the winners pointing out that what they did is highly appreciated by the University. He also thanked the staff of the Scientific Research Deanship for their efforts in making this Ceremony happen, adding: The Award has contributed to activate scientific research at the University, keeping pace with the recent developments in scientific research in the Kingdom and fulfilling our wise government directives to take care of policies and programs that support scientific research, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship activities for their role in achieving the economic and social development objectives. Due to the fact that scientific research represents a part of the Universities sources of income, knowledge-based economy is one of the main elements that play a role in the economy of many countries. Then Dr.AlFawzan prayed Allah for the winners to be blessed with these prizes and motivated to achieve better status in the future to serve our society and homeland and meet our rulers' expectations. Furthermore, he congratulated the distinguished Colleges which have obtained the largest number of participations, pointing out that the award was established to be of material and moral benefit for them. This lays responsibility on faculty to fulfill their role in improving and publishing their research works in internationally acknowledged scientific journals.
At the end of the Ceremony, Dr. Al-Fawzan handed out commemorative awards and cheques incentives to the winners
