The Female Student Branch of the Physics Department Continues the Series of Scientific Seminars with a Seminar Presented by Dr. Maha Turjuman

The Physics Department organized its second seminar during the second semester of the academic year 1436/1437 A.H. entitled:

"Einstein's Ideas and the Gravitational Waves"

Dr. Maha Turjuman from the department thankfully presented the seminar on Thursday 13 Jumada Al-Thani 1437 A.H. corresponding to 22 March 2016 G.C. at 9:15 A.M. for half an hour.  The seminar was followed by comments and questions from the audience.

She focused on the gravitational waves detected by LIGO observatory; and discussed the applications of the theory of relativity. Several points were also made by a number of faculty members of the department including the concept of the black hole, and other applications of the theory.

This seminar is part of a weekly series of seminars organized by the Physics Department -Branch of Female Students. These seminars are presented by faculty members of the department and researchers from other research bodies. As for their objectives, they aim to stimulate the academic climate of scientific research in the department, and to inform the department members of the latest advances in physical sciences in various fields.

It is noteworthy to mention that attending these seminars is open to all faculty members, employees and students of the university.
