The Scientific Committee in the Physics Department organized a Student Academic Seminar during the second semester of the academic year 1436/1437 AH, entitled
"Gravitational Waves: A Century of Scientific Research to Prove Einstein's Theory."
Dr. Muhammad Khalil Muhammad Ali, Assistant Professor in the Physics Department, presented the Seminar on Tuesday, 07/05/1437 AH, corresponding to 04/12/2016 AD, at 09:15 a.m., for half an hour. It was followed by questions and discussions from the attendees.
The Seminar presenter began by giving an idea about gravitational waves in general. He also talked about the discovery of scientists of the "National Science Foundation" in Washington, who after a century of research and studies, proved the validity of Einstein's hypothesis about gravitational waves. He considered this physical discovery as the biggest discovery during the last Century to understand the universe. It will open entirely new ways for scientists to study the universe. Faculty members and students of the Department were involved in the discussion regarding several points, including the practical side of how to prove this theory.
This Seminar falls within a series of seminars held by the Scientific Committee in the Physics Department and presented by faculty members in the Department and researchers from other research sectors. They aim at motivating scientific research environment in the Department and informing its members of the latest advances in physical sciences in various fields.
It is noteworthy to mention that attending these seminars is open to all University members, including faculty and staff members and students.
