The Department of Mathematics and Statistics Open Day Report

Under the supervision of Dr. Rabee` Al-Qahtani, the Head of the Mathematics and Statistics Department, the Department organized an Open Day to entertain the students and give them scientific, social, and intellectual knowledge, orientation, and skills, as well as strengthen relationships among students and between students andfaculty. The Open day was held on Monday 06/26/1437 AH - 04/04/2016 AD.

Dr. Rabee` Al-Qahtani, the Head of the Mathematics and Statistics Department, presented a speech welcoming the students and thanking them for their participation in this Day. He said that the Department cares about the students and their problems and responds to what they are requesting, in light of the University regulations. Moreover, he clarified that students' suggestions are taken into account to develop the Department. Then, he gave them the opportunity to discuss their problems with him.

Professor Ahmed Al-Khalaf delivered a speech addressing the students and mentioning the importance of meeting them, communicating with them, solving their problems, and giving them guidance, which benefits them in their University studies and after graduation. On the other hand, Dr. Ahmad Al-Rifai gave a speech on "How to Learn Math the Fun Way," explaining the common reasons behind the problems in teaching and learning Mathematics, why a student needs to study Mathematics while considering it an interesting subject, and how to love Mathematics as a student.

The students participated in entertaining competitions in Mathematics and general thinking, where students were divided into two teams and questions were asked alternately. Then, prizes were given to all students, and attendees thanked the Mathematics and Statistics Department, gave credit to the way the Open Day was organized, and asked for such activities in the future.

Such activities are supported and guided by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Babtain, the Dean of the College of Science.
