The faculty of Science was founded in 2006 (1427 AH). The establishment of the Faculty was based on many factor such as the review carried out by the “Al Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University” for the faculties, departments and disciplines offered to students in order to gain the best for their future and the pursuit their studies to contribute in building the country and to participate effectively in the development plans. Also, the formation of the faculty of Science was aimed initially to meet the needs for applied science departments and strengthen the scientific infrastructure in the University.  Before the Faculty was established, its first two departments; Mathematics and Physics were instituted and they were under the administration of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences. At first, it started enrolling students in these two department at the second semester of the academic year 2005/2006 (1426/1427 AH).  The total number of students enrolled reached 40 students. Then, on 07/11/2006 (15/10/1427 AH) The Royal Court approved the establishment of the Faculty of Science at Al-Imam University with four departments; mathematics, physics,chemistry and biology​.  At first Dr Abdullah Al Mousa was assigned as a Dean of the Faculty. After he moved to the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr Abdullah Al-Tameem was assigned as a Faculty Dean. On 22/08/2007 (08/08/1428 AH) Dr Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Qadi  was assigned as a Dean of the Faculty of Science. Department of Chemistry was then added to the Faculty at the first semester of the academic year 2011/2012 (1432/1433 AH). On 12/09/2012 (25/10/1433 AH)  Dr Mohammed Bin Mohsen Babatin  was appointed as the Dean of the College. Since its foundation, the Faculty has expanded and now it accept students at a rate of 120 students per semester.
