Dr. Mohammad Maraashdeh presents a scientific seminar in the Physics Department

The Scientific Committee of the Physics Department in  the Science College organized a seminar entitled:

"Characterization and Attenuation Properties of Natural Material such as Phantom for the Diagnostic X-Ray Energy Range"

Dr. Mohammad WaaSef Marashdeh, staff member of the Physics Department, presented the seminar on Tuesday, 25 Jumada II, 1436 AH - 14 April, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the meeting room of Physics Department.

On the other hand, the Scientific Committee stated that these seminars were open to all university staff including instructors and students. This aims at spreading the culture of scientific research, motivating it and raising the staff performance in it. They It also serves the objectives of the University to support sciences, technology and innovation.

-Abstract

Phantom is an important tool to ensure the quality of diagnosing rays and radiation treatment equipment.  Using water is the essential recommended method to measure high doses of photon energy and electron beams. Studies of medical physics are still looking for a substitute material that is accurate, practical, cheap, and feasible instead of water to improve accuracy and accurate measurement of radiation treatment. That is why there were several studies on many types of industrial and natural materials as water equalizers. This presentation aims at displaying the appropriateness of using a type of natural wooden material such as phantom to measure the doses of radiation within diagnosing capabilities. Moreover, the labs of mass attenuation of this material will present it with different criteria by using the method of transferring photon within diagnosing capabilities.
