في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الفيزياء بكلية العلوم، أقام القسم ندوة علمية (سمنار) بعنوان:
Investigation of radiation shielding properties of modified glass systems using Geant4 modelling software
قدّمتها سعادة الدكتورة منيرة العقيل - الأستاذ المشارك في قسم الفيزياء - وذلك يوم الاثنين الموافق 30/3/1447هـ في تمام الساعة الثانية عشر ظهراً بقاعة 325 الدور الثالث بالكلية.
وقد تناولت الندوة العلمية ما يلي:
A comprehensive study on the radiation shielding properties of five modified glass systems, designed as environmentally safe alternatives to conventional lead-based materials. Using Monte Carlo simulations (Geant4) and analytical calculations (EpiXS), the study evaluated gamma-ray and neutron attenuation characteristics across energy ranges from 0.01 to 20 MeV while maintaining optical transparency.
This research provides valuable insights for the development of next-generation radiation shielding materials with applications in medical facilities, nuclear power plants, and industrial radiography, offering a promising pathway toward safer and more effective radiation protection solutions
حيث استعرضت الدكتورة أبرز المحاور والنتائج ذات الصلة بالموضوع مقدمةً طرحًا علميًا قيّمًا أثار نقاشاً مثمراً بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس.
وتأتي هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة الأنشطة العلمية التي يحرص قسم الفيزياء على تنظيمها بشكل دوري وذلك في إطار تعزيز النشاط البحثي والأكاديمي بالقسم وحرصاً على إتاحة الفرصة للتفاعل العلمي وتبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين وطلاب الدراسات العليا بالقسم.
