في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الكيمياء بكلية العلوم، أقام القسم ندوة علمية بعنوان:
Chemical Speciation of Arsenic: A Key to Understand Environmental Fate and Toxicity
قدمها سعادة الدكتور جميل احمد بيك، وذلك صباح اليوم الأربعاء الموافق 15/04/2026 م الموافق 27/10/1447 هـ في تمام الساعة 08:00 صباحاً في القاعة A81 بالكلية.
وقد تناولت الندوة العلمية ما يلي:
The seminar addressed key findings related to the distribution and concentration of arsenic in environmental samples. The results indicated that arsenic levels in most groundwater samples from selected regions exceeded the permissible limits established by the World Health Organization (WHO). In addition, strong correlations were observed between inorganic arsenic species and various physicochemical parameters, including total dissolved solids (TDS), electrical conductivity (EC), and major ions. Furthermore, the seminar highlighted the development and optimization of several advanced analytical methodologies, such as solid-phase extraction, cloud-point extraction, and co-precipitation. These methods were demonstrated to be simple, rapid, sensitive, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly. Moreover, modifications to conventional extraction procedures significantly reduced analysis time while maintaining reliable results, thereby enhancing their applicability for environmental risk assessment and supporting effective water quality management and decision-making strategies.
حيث استعرض الدكتور أبرز المحاور والنتائج ذات الصلة بالموضوع مقدماً طرحاً علمياً قيّماً أثار نقاشاً مثمراً بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطلاب الحاضرين.
وتأتي هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة الأنشطة العلمية التي يحرص قسم الكيمياء على تنظيمها بشكل دوري وذلك في إطار تعزيز النشاط البحثي والأكاديمي بالقسم وحرصاً على إتاحة الفرصة للتفاعل العلمي وتبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين وطلاب الدراسات العليا بالقسم.
