في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الكيمياء بكلية العلوم، أقام القسم ندوة علمية بعنوان:
Sweet Orange Peel Extract as green sustainable corrosion inhibitor for Al in 1 M HCl
قدمها سعادة الدكتور د. محمد عيسى أحمد، وذلك صباح اليوم الأربعاء الموافق 29/04/2026 م الموافق 12/11/1447 هـ في تمام الساعة 08:00 صباحاً في القاعة A81 بالكلية.
وقد تناولت الندوة العلمية ما يلي:
The seminar presented the investigation of sweet orange peel extract as a green and sustainable corrosion inhibitor for aluminum in a 1 M HCl medium. Emphasis was placed on the growing need for environmentally friendly corrosion protection strategies by utilizing natural, plant-derived materials as alternatives to conventional chemical inhibitors. The study demonstrated that the extract contains bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, phenolics, and essential oils, which play a significant role in corrosion inhibition. These compounds adsorb onto the aluminum surface, forming a protective film that effectively reduces the corrosion rate. The inhibition performance was evaluated using electrochemical techniques and kinetic analysis, revealing that inhibition efficiency increases with increasing extract concentration. Furthermore, the seminar discussed the adsorption mechanism of the extract molecules on the aluminum surface, highlighting the role of functional groups in enhancing surface interaction and stability of the protective layer. The findings confirmed that sweet orange peel extract provides an efficient, low-cost, and eco-friendly solution for corrosion control. Overall, the seminar underscored the potential of agricultural waste materials in developing sustainable corrosion inhibition systems with practical industrial applications.
كما استعرض الدكتور أبرز المحاور والنتائج ذات الصلة بالموضوع مقدماً طرحاً علمياً قيّماً أثار نقاشاً مثمراً بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطلاب الحاضرين.
وتأتي هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة الأنشطة العلمية التي يحرص قسم الكيمياء على تنظيمها بشكل دوري وذلك في إطار تعزيز النشاط البحثي والأكاديمي بالقسم وحرصاً على إتاحة الفرصة للتفاعل العلمي وتبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين وطلاب الدراسات العليا بالقسم.
