في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الفيزياء بكلية العلوم، أقام القسم ندوة علمية بعنوان:
Optical forces on atoms subject to higher-order Poincare beams
قدّمها سعادة الأستاذ الدكتور إسماعيل بوقفة، وذلك صباح اليوم الأربعاء الموافق 13/05/2025 م الموافق 26/11/1447 هـ في تمام الساعة 09:00 صباحاً في القاعة 03-33B بالكلية.
وقد تناولت الندوة العلمية ما يلي:
The interaction of atoms with higher-order Poincaré optical vortex modes of order m≥0 is investigated for light near resonance with atomic dipole transitions. While it is well known that atoms in optical vortex modes experience both translational and rotational forces acting on their center of mass—leading to atom dynamics and trapping—this work extends the analysis to general paraxial higher-order Poincaré vector modes. The coupling to atoms enables a wide range of scenarios in which any specific polarization is embedded within a continuous spectrum of wave polarizations, and all interactions are treated within a unified formulation. We demonstrate that this gives rise to diverse physical situations governed by four key factors: the mode order m, the polarization represented by angular coordinates on the unit Poincaré sphere, the specific atomic transitions involved, and their associated selection rules. Analytical derivations of the optical forces on sodium atoms are presented, along with numerical variations illustrating different regimes.
حيث استعرض الدكتور أبرز المحاور والنتائج ذات الصلة بالموضوع مقدماً طرحاً علمياً قيّماً أثار نقاشاً مثمراً بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطلاب الحاضرين.
وتأتي هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة الأنشطة العلمية التي يحرص قسم الفيزياء على تنظيمها بشكل دوري وذلك في إطار تعزيز النشاط البحثي والأكاديمي بالقسم وحرصاً على إتاحة الفرصة للتفاعل العلمي وتبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين وطلاب الدراسات العليا بالقسم.
