​في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الأحياء بكلية العلوم (شطر الطلاب)، أقام قسم الأحياء ندوة علمية (سيمنار علمي) بعنوان:

Decoding Editorial Decisions: Why Manuscripts Are Rejected Before and After Review

وقد تناولت الندوة العلمية:

This seminar explains why strong manuscripts are rejected at two key decision points: editorial triage (desk rejection) and external peer review. We will unpack the most frequent causes of desk rejection—especially scope/audience mismatch, not “journal-article shaped" writing, and non-compliance with author guidelines—and highlight the fastest practical fixes. We then move to peer-review rejection drivers, focusing on study design and controls, appropriateness of methods, statistical analysis and reporting completeness, and conclusions that exceed the data. Finally, the seminar covers integrity and transparency issues that can trigger immediate rejection (e.g., ethics approvals, similarity/plagiarism concerns, authorship declarations, and data availability). Attendees will leave with a one-slide pre-submission “avoid rejection" checklist that can be used as a lab submission gate before uploading to any journal. Key take-home message: Most rejections are predictable—and many are preventable with better journal fit, clearer contribution framing, and stronger reporting transparency

حيث استعرض  الدكتور أبرز المحاور والنتائج ذات الصلة بالموضوع مقدماً طرحاً علمياً قيّماً أثار نقاشاً مثمراً بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطلاب الحاضرين. وتأتي هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة الأنشطة العلمية التي يحرص قسم الأحياء على تنظيمها بشكل دوري وذلك في إطار تعزيز النشاط البحثي والأكاديمي بالقسم وحرصاً على إتاحة الفرصة للتفاعل العلمي وتبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين وطلاب الدراسات العليا بالقسم.
