في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الأحياء بكلية العلوم (شطر الطلاب)، أقام قسم الأحياء ندوة علمية (سيمنار علمي) بعنوان:
Plant cell and tissue culture: Its practical application and entrepreneurship
قدّمها سعادة الدكتورة/ اي بي ام شريف - الأستاذ المشارك في قسم الأحياء - وذلك صباح يوم الاثنين 27 جمادى الأولى 1447هـ الموافق 17 نوفمبر 2025م الساعة 8:25 صباحاً في قاعة سمينارات القسم شطر الطلاب.
وقد تناولت الندوة العلمية:
Plant cell and tissue culture represents one of the most powerful biotechnological tools for modern agriculture and industry, offering precise, efficient, and scalable methods for propagating high-value plants, conserving threatened species, producing bioactive compounds, and accelerating crop improvement programs. Beyond its scientific importance, this technology provides strong entrepreneurial opportunities—from establishing commercial micropropagation laboratories and producing disease-free planting material, to developing specialty products such as secondary metabolites, natural colorants, and pharmaceutical compounds through cell suspension cultures. With increasing global demand for sustainable agriculture, rare plant conservation, and high-quality horticultural products, plant tissue culture has evolved into a dynamic field that combines practical laboratory expertise with innovative business models, enabling researchers and entrepreneurs to create impactful ventures that bridge science, industry, and economic development.
حيث استعرض الدكتور أبرز المحاور والنتائج ذات الصلة بالموضوع مقدماً طرحاً علمياً قيّماً أثار نقاشاً مثمراً بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطلاب الحاضرين. وتأتي هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة الأنشطة العلمية التي يحرص قسم الأحياء على تنظيمها بشكل دوري وذلك في إطار تعزيز النشاط البحثي والأكاديمي بالقسم وحرصاً على إتاحة الفرصة للتفاعل العلمي وتبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين وطلاب الدراسات العليا بالقسم.
