في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الأحياء بكلية العلوم، أقام القسم ندوة علمية (سيمنار علمي) بعنوان:
The relationship between Hypoxia-Inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) and ovarian cancer progression: mechanisms and potential therapeutic approaches
العلاقة بين العامل المحفز لنقص الاكسجة (HIF-1α) وتطور سرطان المبيض: الاليات والاساليب العلاجية
قدّمها سعادة الدكتورة: مروة المولدي جلولي، الأستاذ المساعد في القسم، وذلك يوم الاثنين 5 جمادي الاولى 1447هـ، الموافق 27 أكتوبر 2025م في تمام الساعة 08:25 صباحاً بقاعة السمنارات في قسم الأحياء بالكلية.
وقد تناولت الندوة العلمية ما يلي:
Ovarian cancer is a multifactorial disease arising from a complex interplay of genetic, environmental, reproductive, and lifestyle factors, rather than a single cause.
Among these, Hypoxia-Inducible Factor-1α (HIF-1α) plays a pivotal role in the progression of this often-silent disease, particularly by modulating the tumor microenvironment and driving pathogenic mechanisms that exacerbate female infertility. In low-oxygen conditions (hypoxia), HIF-1α stabilizes and activates the expression of genes involved in angiogenesis, metabolic reprogramming, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), immune evasion and therapeutic resistance. These HIF-1α-mediated processes promote tumor cell survival, proliferation, and metastasis. Concurrently, dysregulation of HIF-1α disrupts ovarian homeostasis, hormone synthesis, and the ovarian vascular network, thereby contributing to infertility.
Due to its dual role in advancing ovarian cancer and impairing fertility, HIF-1α represents a promising therapeutic target. Strategies such as small-molecule inhibitors and nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems have the potential to inhibit HIF-1α activity, curbing cancer progression while preserving fertility.
كما استعرضت الدكتورة أبرز المحاور والنتائج ذات الصلة، مقدمتاً طرحاً علمياً قيّماً أثار نقاشاً مثمراً بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطالبات الحاضرات. وتأتي هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة الأنشطة العلمية التي يحرص قسم الأحياء على تنظيمها بشكل دوري وذلك في إطار تعزيز النشاط البحثي والأكاديمي بالقسم وحرصاً على إتاحة الفرصة للتفاعل العلمي وتبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين وطلاب الدراسات العليا بالقسم.
