في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الرياضيات والإحصاء بكلية العلوم، أقام القسم ندوة علمية (سيمنار) بعنوان:
Greylag Goose Optimization and Deep Learning-Based Electrohysterogram Signal Analysis for Preterm Birth Risk Prediction
قدّمها سعادة الدكتور أنيس الصادق بن غربال، وذلك صباح اليوم الأربعاء الموافق 6/5/2026 م في تمام الساعة 8:00 صباحاً بقاعة 2-079B بالكلية.

This study introduces a hybrid GGPSO-optimized LSTM framework for the early and accurate prediction of preterm birth by analyzing Electrohysterogram (EHG) signals. By integrating the temporal pattern recognition of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks with the global search capabilities of a hybrid Greylag Goose and Particle Swarm Optimization (GGPSO) algorithm, the model effectively captures the complex dynamics of uterine contractions while avoiding the local optima traps common in traditional hyperparameter tuning. Utilizing a preprocessed dataset balanced via the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE), the proposed architecture identifies signal entropy and contraction count as key clinical biomarkers, achieving a superior accuracy of 97.34%, sensitivity of 96.91%, and specificity of 97.74%. Ultimately, this research provides a robust, interpretable clinical decision support tool that significantly outperforms standard machine learning approaches, offering a promising path toward improved neonatal health outcomes through timely medical intervention.
