في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الأحياء بكلية العلوم (شطر الطالبات)، أقام قسم الأحياء ندوة علمية (سيمنار علمي) بعنوان:
Premarital Screening in Saudi Arabia
قدمتها سعادة الدكتورة/ إيمان عبدالله المقري- الأستاذ المساعد في قسم الأحياء - وذلك صباح يوم الإثنين 17 ذو القعدة 1447هـ – 4/مايو 2026م الساعة 8:15 صباحاً في قاعة سمينارات القسم شطر الطالبات.
وقد تناولت الندوة العلمية:
Premarital screening (PMS) is a crucial preventive healthcare practice that aims to reduce hereditary hemoglobinopathies and infectious diseases. The importance of the compulsory premarital screening in Saudi Arabia, which was entirely established in 2004. The program plays a key role in identifying hereditary blood diseases, including Sickle Cell Anemia, Thalassemia, and infectious diseases, including Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV, the study notes. Data presented are statistical and demonstrate a notable decrease in disease prevalence; thus the rates of Sickle Cell Disease reduced from 4.20% prior to 2004 to 2.52% in recent years. It has largely achieved its purposes of educating the public and preventing the spread of fatal genetic and infectious diseases since its inception as a mandatory prevention scheme.
حيث استعرضت الدكتورة أبرز المحاور والنتائج ذات الصلة بالموضوع مقدمة طرحاً علمياً قيّماً أثار نقاشاً مثمراً بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطلاب الحاضرين. وتأتي هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة الأنشطة العلمية التي يحرص قسم الأحياء على تنظيمها بشكل دوري وذلك في إطار تعزيز النشاط البحثي والأكاديمي بالقسم وحرصاً على إتاحة الفرصة للتفاعل العلمي وتبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين وطلاب الدراسات العليا بالقسم.
