في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الأحياء بكلية العلوم (شطر الطلاب)، أقام قسم الأحياء ندوة علمية (سيمنار علمي) بعنوان:
Enhancing Research Impact by Understanding the Methodologies of the Times Higher Education (THE) and QS World University Rankings
قدّمها سعادة الدكتور/ عبد الغفار ابو السعود - الاستاذ في قسم الأحياء - وذلك صباح يوم الإثنين 17 جماد ثاني 1447هـ – 8/ديسمبر 2025م الساعة 8:25 صباحا في قاعة سمينارات القسم شطر الطلاب
وقد تناولت الندوة العلمية:
Enhancing research impact within THE and QS rankings requires aligning institutional strategies with their core indicators. THE evaluates universities across teaching, research environment, research quality (citations and excellence), international outlook, and industry income/patents. QS focuses heavily on academic reputation, citations per faculty, employer reputation, international faculty/students, research networks, and sustainability. To improve standing, universities should prioritize high-quality, highly cited publications, build international collaborations with top institutions, and invest in doctoral programs, faculty–student ratio, and research infrastructure. Strengthening research visibility through global media outreach, editorial board participation, and hosting international conferences boosts reputation metrics. Expanding industry partnerships, patents, and funded projects increases applied research indicators. Mapping research to SDGs, improving campus sustainability, and reporting impact strengthens performance in THE Impact Rankings and QS sustainability. A unified strategy combining research excellence, internationalization, reputation building, and industry engagement creates measurable improvements across both ranking systems.
حيث استعرض الدكتور أبرز المحاور والنتائج ذات الصلة بالموضوع مقدماً طرحاً علمياً قيّماً أثار نقاشاً مثمراً بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطلاب الحاضرين. وتأتي هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة الأنشطة العلمية التي يحرص قسم الأحياء على تنظيمها بشكل دوري وذلك في إطار تعزيز النشاط البحثي والأكاديمي بالقسم وحرصاً على إتاحة الفرصة للتفاعل العلمي وتبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين وطلاب الدراسات العليا بالقسم.
