Abstract: 

In probability theory, the moment problem can be stated as follows: given a sequence of real numbers, when is there a probability distribution on the real line with this sequence as moments. And if such a distribution exists, is it unique? In this seminar, we present the main results about necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence and unicity for the Hamburger and the Stieljes moment problem.
