Hybrid organic-inorganic materials provide a creative way to combine functional properties of different compounds within a single molecular composite. The crystalline materials comprising layers of organic molecules alternating with inorganic sheets have been widely studied because of their potential application in integrated devices. Furthermore, it has the potential to generate new physical phenomena by coupling individual functionalities.  In this context we present the synthesis structural and spectroscopic characterization of a new phase, the (H3AEP)2BiCl6 3Cl (H2O)2. It was obtained by slow evaporation at room temperature of an aqueous solution containing Bismuth(III) chloride, 1-(2-aminoethyl) piperazine (AEP) and chlorhydric acidin a 1:2 molar ratio. This material crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group,Pbca, with a=12.108 (4) Å, b=19.403 (3) Å, c=24.933 (6) Å, V=5858 (3)Å and Z=8.

The structure consists of an isolated and distorted (BiCl6)3− octahedron, two independent organic cations, three unique chloride anions, and two independent water molecules (Figure1) linked by hydrogen bondstoformazero-dimensionalorganic-inorganichybrid network.
