The seminar "Statistics and Porbability" will be held each Tuesday at 11 (after the Meeting of the Department) in room 1-057.
From Tuesday, October 27, a series lectures will be given by Dr. Anis Ben Ghorbal on

ABSTRACT: An enrollment projection model based on the Markov chain is developed for postgraduate students at the College of Science (Department of Mathematics and Statistics). These include estimating students flow between different study levels, the average life time a student spends at each level, the semesters required for graduation, and students graduating probability. The model is helpful for the college's future planning in matters regarding postgraduate student enrolments. Because the topics covered in this study are diverse, we present the related work as:
- - Development of Model
- - Transition and Initial State Matrices
- - Application of the Markov Process
- - The Steady-State Matrix
- - Computational Experience
