A piecewise WKB Approximation for One-Turning P​oint Sturm Liouville Equations and Asymptotics for Eigenvalues

Abstract: 
For the classical limit point eigenvalue problem for  -y^''+q y=λy on [0,∞) when q(x)  is continuous and →+∞  as  x →+∞ ,  we obtain (quantum conditions)for the determination of the eigenvalues. These are applied to the case of the anharmonic oscillator potential to Obtain an asymptotic approximation for the nth eigenvalue, as n→+∞ . Apiecewise turning point analysis making use of a linear approximation to  q  in the neighborhood of the turning point and a WKB approxi- mation away from the turning point is employed to approximate the solutions, and this approximation yields first-order and second-order approximations to the eigenvalues.
