Walid Ghabbour's paper (Asmaa Al-Fadil).
Arabization of scientific content on the Internet between language policy and language planning.
In the eighth session, Dr. Walid Muhammad Ghabbour from Shaqra University presented his paper, explaining that the Arabization of modern sciences and technologies is an urgent necessity, and Arabization contributes to its strong consolidation in society and the minds of learners, and the Internet is a fertile and important environment for the Arabization of scientific content.
This paper includes six parts: the importance of localization, and the web.
The originality of the Arabization of science, the Arabization of science in the modern era. Following the example of the West, he called it (the destructive fascination).
Arabization of science and scientific content between supporters and opponents, Arabization of science and scientific content between language policy and language planning.
Then he touched on the importance of Arabization and the Web, saying: The importance of Arabizing science and scientific content on the Web in our time is reflected in the fact that it is strongly connected to Arab-Islamic culture, especially in a world of scientific development and openness to cultural knowledge, which is embodied in many different fields, and most of them are Visibility and penetration in our lives the Internet.
What is meant by Arabization here is the idiomatic meaning, as it is “transferring the foreign word into Arabic, meaning that the Arabization is the introduction of the foreign word into the Arabic lexicon, and it is one of the issues that preoccupied the ancients and moderns alike.
The Arabic language is the strongest distinguishing feature of our Arab culture, as it is linked to identity, the Islamic religion, history and civilization, and it is also the main pillar from which every future ambition for survival, development and progress is based on various levels.
Dr. Walid concluded his research paper by reviewing some recommendations that could contribute to the Arabization of science to one degree or another, based on language policy and language planning, which are:
Establishing an integrated center for the Arabization of science, and the Arabization of scientific content on the Internet in the Arab world.
Adoption of the Arabic language for teaching in various colleges, scientific institutes and universities in the Arab world.
Obligating postgraduate students in scientific disciplines to prepare their research and dissertations for master's and doctoral degrees in Arabic, as well as the matter regarding promotion research for faculty members.
Coordination between bodies, associations, universities and interested scholars and academics, in order to obtain the best levels of diversity and integration.
Preparing specialized references in an integrated manner through the formation of scientific committees aimed at completing the scientific achievement accurately and soberly, according to accurate and detailed linguistic planning.
Preparing dictionaries of scientific terms in various disciplines, whether they are in Arabic or foreign languages.
The requirement to be fluent in Arabic, speaking, writing, reading and understanding, to accept non-Arab faculty members.
Designing a standardized international test that measures the extent of Arabic language proficiency in speaking, writing, reading and understanding, similar to other foreign languages.
It is mentioned by Dr. Nabil concluded in his paper that the Arabization of science, and the Arabization of scientific content on the Internet, will not exist without the concerted efforts and various bodies, whether this is related to the production, reception, learning, teaching, or practices of knowledge and science in practical life, as is the case in laboratories. And health units, hospitals, conferences and local and international scientific meetings, in addition to the fact that the lack of Arabization of science, as well as the Arabization of scientific content on the Internet, is considered an entry point for knowledge disruption and cultural alienation that harms the scientific future of the youth of the Arab world.
