The virtual international conference “The Interrelationship Between Social Sciences, Humanities and Digital Technologies” has commenced at Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University.

 Under the patronage of His Excellency the President of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, Professor Ahmed bin Salem Al-Amri, the virtual international conference “The Interrelationship between Social and Human Sciences and Digital Technologies” was launched today, Monday, November 24, 2025. The first day included four specialized scientific sessions in which a select group of researchers and experts from inside and outside the Kingdom participated, via the Webex platform.


     The first day of the conference featured four consecutive scientific sessions that addressed the latest trends and digital applications related to the fields of social sciences and humanities, within an academic movement that reflects the university’s pioneering role in supporting scientific research and enhancing the Kingdom’s presence in the fields of digital knowledge.

  

   The first session, which addressed “National Achievements in Employing Digital Technologies in Social and Human Sciences,” was opened under the chairmanship of Dr. Saud bin Abdullah Al-Sahli from the College of Media and Communication at the university. Speakers discussed the Kingdom’s efforts in promoting integration between technology and social research, reviewing sound research models on artificial intelligence applications and ethics in supporting social decision-making, in addition to the impact of e-learning on developing social practices, and the ethical and methodological challenges associated with the use of digital technologies in social research. The session also highlighted the role of digital transformation in educational institutions and its direct impact on the structure of society, amidst interactive discussions that enriched the scientific presentation and provided practical visions for the future.

    The conference continued with the second session, entitled “The Role of Social and Human Sciences in Understanding and Shaping Digital Technology,” chaired by the Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work, Dr. Hadi Ibrahim Ati. Researchers presented studies that focused on the reciprocal relationship between technology and cultural identity. These included applied models for preserving manuscript heritage through digital technologies, and designing narrative content for children that relies on technical intelligence to enhance cultural identity. The session also discussed the transformations that technology imposes on social identity and presented a scientific vision for developing social and human sciences research in Saudi universities through the use of modern digital tools. The session concluded with a presentation that addressed the future prospects of the relationship between legal sciences and artificial intelligence.


     The third session, which focused on “The Impact of Digital Technologies on Social Sciences and Humanities,” was chaired by Dr. Mohammed bin Naji Al-Yamani, Director General of the General Administration for Cooperation and International Communication. The session presented in-depth analyses of the impact of digital transformation on patterns of behavior and knowledge. It reviewed studies on the impact of financial inclusion on the culture of saving and consumption in Saudi society, the critical thinking skills of Islamic studies students in dealing with generative artificial intelligence, and the role of digital technology in addressing social problems. The session also discussed the ethical challenges associated with the use of digital data and presented a contemporary philosophical reading of value and religious distinction in light of the increasing presence of artificial intelligence. The session witnessed a remarkable scientific enrichment through high-quality interventions that emphasized the importance of promoting awareness of ethical and human standards in the era of digital transformation.


     In the closing session, chaired by the General Supervisor of the General Administration for Social Responsibility, Dr. Maher Aba Hussein, the focus was on “Opportunities and Challenges for Interaction between Social Sciences and Digital Technologies,” where the research papers addressed university students’ attitudes towards digital surveys, the role of artificial intelligence in developing social sciences, a discussion of the ethics of education in light of digital transformation, in addition to digital education strategies in Arab universities.

     The first day of the conference concluded after its four sessions provided a rich platform for exchanging scientific perspectives and discussing issues common to the social sciences, humanities, and digital technologies.
