"Chemistry Tuesday 1" was held on Tuesday, 07/05/1437 AH. It was attended by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Babtain, Dean of the College, Dr. Muhammed Abaoud, Vice-Dean of the College for Academic Affairs, Dr. Osama Al-Daghri, Vice-Dean of the College for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Sami Abdulaziz Al-Hussein, Head of the Chemistry Department, faculty, and students. They were excited to attend and participate in this activity as it was the first scientific-social activity organized by the Department at the College level.
Dr. Sami Abdulaziz Al-Hussein, Head of the Chemistry Department, started the activity with a speech welcoming the Dean and vice-deans of the College. Then, Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Babtain welcomed the attendees and praised the Department and its research, teaching, and extracurricular activities progress and achievements; in addition, he gave credit to the use of the website in the university education by the Department. He also explained that the college will spare no efforts in providing whatever helps in making the Department distinguished, which represents one of the College objectives. Then, Dr. Muhammed Abaoud, Vice-Dean of the College for Academic Affairs, discussed the importance of communication between faculty and students, which was applied that day during the activity. He also clarified that the Vice-Deanship of the College for Academic Affairs considers students as first priority and seeks to provide them with all educational process success standards. Moreover, the Vice-Dean of the College for Administrative and Financial Affairs expressed his impressiveness due to the number of students attending the activity regardless of the rainy weather, which indicates to what extent they care about participating and interacting with the Department and encourages to hold similar activities in the future to strengthen communication between the students, the Deanship, and the Department. It is worth mentioning that this activity was the first to take place in the new building.
After that, the Head of the Chemistry Department concluded the opening by welcoming attendees again and thanking the Organizing Committee members for their good efforts to ensure the success of the activity.
That was followed by practical scientific activities performed by students such as some interesting experiments, including: invisible ink, cheese making, acacia gum preparation, cleaning copper, elephant's toothpaste making, etc. The Dean and vice-deans of the College, Head of the Department, and other attendees showed their happiness and gave credit to the well-organized students and their skills. Then, everyone had a short break to eat and drink. Next, they moved to the main hall to distribute prizes to the winners of the educational chemistry competition. In conclusion, the Head of the Department joined students for an hour in a friendly meeting to advise them regarding educational and developmental issues, they also discussed some challenges that encounter students in the Department, and then he listened to their opinions and suggestions in general.
At the end of the activity, prizes were distributed to some attendees. Students' happiness motivates the Department to organize similar activities in the future.
