The Physics Department at the Female Branch Organizes the "Rose Hope" Campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness

Physics Department at King Abdullah City for Female Students organized an awareness campaign entitled:

"Rose Hope"​

   That was alongside with the Cancer International Day. The event opened by forming a human strip holding the campaign logo, then a speech presented by the Vice-Dean of  the College of Science Ms. Reem Aljadhee and another one by the deputy head  of the Physics Department Ms. Mervat Azzme'i.

   The College students participating in the campaign presented various activities such as distributing campaign logo brochures, T-shirts for raising awareness of the disease and dangers of ignoring early detection and regular checking.  

    The event organized by Ms. Mervet Azzme'i and Ms. Safiyah Alharbi consisted of three participating institutions.  The Ministry of Health participation consisted of:  - first part: a health educational seminar which concluded with an explanation of the importance of controlling a healthy life pattern as a prevention procedure presented by Dr. Haifa Nasri.  

     The second part: Displaying a three dimension sample of an affected person and explaining means of early detecting of different types of cancer supervised by health educator Kafi  Al-Enezi.

    The third part was the last one in which focus was on preserving a stable psychological and hygienic life despite catching the disease. Two affected ladies were invited, the first was a 23 year old affected with breast cancer and the second was17 year old affected with lymphoma.

 

    The campaign advertised through banners, social media and the official site of the Physics Department witnessed a high turnout among students and university female staff. They had several leaflets, advertisements about cancer and its dangers and means of prevention. Some souvenirs were also offered.

   A participation called "mabee'aat" of Abdullatif Center for Early Breast Cancer Detection gained high interaction of students and university female staff. Revenues of participation will return to the Center.

   Many questions and discussions about medical advice were raised through the logo "Is 'ali la takhafi" (ask do not be afraid) presented with a huge logo about the topic of the campaign. 

    University female staff and students were given free medical visit for breast cancer check without having to see the local quarter clinic as well as volunteering in the cancer-fighting program of the Ministry of Health as private rights.

    The event ended with distributing gratitude souvenir to the participating parties and rewarding participating students.
