في إطار النشاط العلمي والبحثي لقسم الفيزياء بكلية العلوم، أقام القسم ندوة علمية بعنوان:
Photo-Magnetic Imaging: A noninvasive imaging modality for cancer characterization
قدّمتها سعادة الدكتورة مها القرعاوي، وذلك يوم الأربعاء الموافق 30/12/2025 م الموافق 12/06/1447 هـ في تمام الساعة 12:30 مساءً في القاعة 3A-335 بالكلية.
وقد تناولت الندوة العلمية ما يلي:
Photo-magnetic imaging (PMI) is an emerging optical imaging modality that synergistically utilizes laser light to slightly elevate tissue temperature and magnetic resonance thermometry (MRT) to measure the induced changes. The measured MRT temperature maps are then converted into absorption maps using a dedicated PMI image reconstruction algorithm. In the MRT maps, abnormalities such as tumors produce high contrast due to their elevated hemoglobin levels. By probing tissue at multiple wavelengths, the concentrations of the main tissue chromophores are obtained and used to derive functional parameters, such as total hemoglobin concentration and relative oxygen saturation, providing insights into tumor angiogenesis and hypermetabolic activity, which correlate with malignancy.
The performance of PMI was experimentally tested on a phantom containing multiple inclusions with different dyes. The concentration of these dyes was successfully recovered with high resolution and high quantitative accuracy. The technique was also extended to applications such as photothermal therapy planning by accurately mapping contrast agents like gold nanoparticles. In parallel, advances in reconstruction methods, including direct approaches and AI integration, have been explored to accelerate the algorithm without compromising accuracy.
حيث استعرضت الدكتورة أبرز المحاور والنتائج ذات الصلة بالموضوع مقدمتاً طرحاً علمياً قيّماً أثار نقاشاً مثمراً بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطلاب الحاضرين.
وتأتي هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة الأنشطة العلمية التي يحرص قسم الفيزياء على تنظيمها بشكل دوري وذلك في إطار تعزيز النشاط البحثي والأكاديمي بالقسم وحرصاً على إتاحة الفرصة للتفاعل العلمي وتبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين وطلاب الدراسات العليا بالقسم.
