Abstract:
With their unmatched adaptability in applications like drug delivery, gas storage, separation, catalysis, and sensing, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have become a revolutionary class of porous materials. Their laboratory-scale synthesis has made significant strides, but converting these developments into scalable industrial production is still a major obstacle. A thorough review of MOF synthesis processes is given in this lecture, with special attention to the shift from small-scale to commercially feasible approaches. The selection of precursors, cost considerations, scalability, and reaction condition optimization are important areas of focus. Additionally, with a focus on case studies where lab-to-market translation has been accomplished, the discussion will examine practical MOF applications in the fields of energy, the environment, and healthcare. Participants will learn about the present constraints, upcoming prospects, and cross-disciplinary cooperation required to fully realize MOFs' potential for large-scale industrial applications.
