Abstract

New Schiff base compounds were synthesis and characterized by different spectroscopic techniques (Uv–Vis, IR and 1H NMR), melting point, elemental analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. Effect of buffer solutions with different pH range on Schiff base compounds were studied for determine the ionization constants (pKa) values of these compounds. New charge transfer compounds were prepared with 2,3–dichloro–5,6–dicyanobenzoquinones (DDQ), chloranilic acid (CHLA) and chloranil (CHL) as electron acceptors of 1:1 and 1:2 (D:A) and some new complexes from these compounds were prepared in presence of some metal ions Pt(IV), Pt(II) and Hf(IV) and investigated spectrophotometrically, melting point, X–Ray diffraction (XRD), inductively coupled plasma (ICP) and Thermal analysis (TGA-DTA). Also examine the impact of various polar solvents on the electronic absorption spectra of the compounds CT in order to identify the nature of these compounds in eight organic solvents. This study aims also to estimate the equilibrium constant (KCT), Molar absorbance coefficient (e) and some thermodynamic parameters. Also studied the effect of various polar solvents to formation constant (K) of CT compounds and calculated the relative permittivity of solvent (ζτ) and also found some spectral function for CT compounds. Further more studied the dynamic of the new compounds CT in two different ways, which included one of the spectral methods, but the other was measurements conductivity, and the rate constant was calculated and suggests the mechanism of the kinetic interactions of the donor with acceptors in solutions. We have been studying surface form of the compounds using the optical microscope. Absorption spectrum was measured using suspension method by paraffin oil (Nujol mull technique) to study the electronic transitions for some CT compounds. The thermal decomposition of some CT compounds in air and nitrogen were studied at three different heating rates to determine kinetic parameters like activation energies (EA) and Arrhenius factors (A) for CT compounds and was suggest the . general mechanical of thermal decomposition of these compounds.
