في رابع أنشطتها لهذا الفصل نظمت اللجنة العلمية بقسم الفيزياء ندوة علمية (Seminar) في تمام الساعة الحادية عشر من صباح يوم الثلاثاء 12 جمادى الأول 1436هـ الموافق 3 مارس 2015، حيث كانت الندوة العلمية بعنوان:

"بلمرة البلازما وبعض تطبيقاتها"

“Plasma Polymerization and some of its applications”​​

 تفضل​ مشكوراً بتقديم الندوة الأستاذ المشارك بالقسم د.ابراهيم فهد عبداللطيف الحمارنة​​​.

وفيما يلي ملخص الندوة:​

ABSTRACT​

  Plasma polymerization techniques refer to the formation of polymeric materials under the influence of plasma. Plasma polymer films can easily be formed with thicknesses of few nanos to micron. Such films are highly coherent and adherent to variety of substrates. Among these techniques, atmospheric-pressure cold plasma processing is the basis of one of the most promising methods of achieving a more flexible, reliable, less expensive and continuous method of surface modification. It alters the surface properties of materials without affecting their bulk properties.

  The talk will cover the application of atmospheric-pressure cold plasma and the formation of composite plasma polymeric film to mitigate bacterial adhesion and concomitant biofouling that afflicts biomedical materials. In particular, coating surgical-grade stainless steel with an adhering, hydrophilic biocompatible thin-film layer of composite plasma polymer and testing its effectiveness at resisting bacterial adhesion (biofouling) will be addressed.

   على صعيد آخر؛ بينت اللجنة العلمية بقسم الفيزياء أن هذه الندوات العلمية التي تقدمها هي مفتوحة لجميع منسوبي الجامعة من أعضاء هيئة تدريس وطلاب، وتهدف منها إلى نشر ثقافة البحث العلمي وتحفيزه ورفع أداءه بين منسوبيها، كما أنها تخدم أهداف الجامعة في دعم العلوم و التقنية والابتكار. تقدم هذه الندوات أسبوعياً ما بين الساعة الحادية عشر إلى الحادية عشر و النصف صباحاً وذلك في قاعة الاجتماعات بقسم الفيزياء.
