د. حمد البريثن من قسم الفيزياء بجامعة الملك سعود يقدم الندوة العلمية الختامية في قسم الفيزياء لهذا العام

نظمت اللجنة العلمية بقسم الفيزياء في كلية العلوم بالتعاون مع عمادة البحث العلمي ممثلة بمركز البحوث بالكلية ندوة علمية بعنوان:

 

"سبائك أكاسيد الزنك: التحضير والتطبيقات"

قدم الندوة مشكوراً الدكتور حمد البريثن عضو هيئة التدريس بقسم الفيزياء والفلك في جامعة الملك سعود وكان ذلك في يوم الثلاثاء16 رجب 1436هـ الموافق 5 مايو 2015م في تمام الساعة 11:00صباحاً إلى الساعة 11:30 صباحاً، وكان ذلك في القاعة الكبرى بكلية العلوم.

 

 

على صعيد آخر؛ أشارت اللجنة العلمية بقسم الفيزياء أن الحضور لهذه الندوات العلمية التي تقدمها متاح لجميع منسوبي الجامعة من أعضاء هيئة تدريس وطلاب، وتهدف منها اللجنة إلى نشر ثقافة البحث العلمي وتحفيزه ورفع أداءه بين منسوبيها، كما أنها تسعى لتحقيق أهداف الجامعة في دعم العلوم و التقنية والابتكار.

 

 

Abstract:

We have grown CaZnO, SrZnO, and BaZnO by pulsed laser deposition mainly on Al2O3 (0001) substrates with and without O2 background gas. The quality of the films were investigated according to the growth conditions, growth temperature and oxygen-background pressure. For the case of SrZnO and BaZnO, growth at low temperature leads usually to amorphous films; however, CaZnO does not require such high temperature in order to form crystalline alloy. It was noticed that the lattice parameters of these alloys do not differ significantly from ZnO, similar to the case of MgZnO and CdZnO. The optical properties have been observed to change as Ca, Sr, or Ba concentration was changed in the film; moreover; we observed a shift in the transmittance spectra as well when compared with ZnO. Growth without oxygen background showed to improve the quality of films in comparison with growth under oxygen background. We are currently carrying out several experiments to investigate these alloys as sensors for different gases. Furthermore, calculational investigation has been also performed in parallel with the experiment. The code Wien 2k has been utilized to explore mainly the phase stability and lattice parameters of the alloys. The funding for this project has been provided by National Plan for Science and Technology (NPST), Saudi Arabia, under project No. 10-NAN1197-02.

 

Biography​:

Hamad Albrithen received his Bachelor degree from Physics Department/ King Saud University and his PhD, in Surface and Materials Physics, from Ohio University in 2004. He joined Physics and Astronomy Department at King Saud University as an assistant professor in 2005, where he teaches and supervises undergraduate and graduate students. Beside his position at Physics and Astronomy Department he is also affiliated to King Abdullah Institute for Nanotechnology at KSU and the National Nano-center at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. His scoop of research covers: 1) Nitride materials, 2) Oxide Materials, and 3) III-V Materials. He has published more than 20 papers in peer review journals and conferences and participated in several local and international conferences and workshops. Hamad Albrithen is a member of different scientific societies:
