Department of Research, Development & Quality 

In line with the development and expansion in education, research and quality in Saudi Universities, King Abdullah Institute for Translation and Arabization has been accomplishing promising tasks by developing projects and by enhancing the quality of translation, at the service of the Kingdom in particular and the whole nation in general. The Research, Development and Quality Department seeks to become a prominent leading department in academic research in translation and in the development of the mechanisms needed for producing and publishing the translated works in accordance with the administrative and academic quality specifications. Furthermore the department strives to provide an effective environment conducive to research in the areas of translation and Arabization as well as enriching the research environment in translation theory and application. It also aims at developing the production and the publication of the translated works, while emphasizing all the aspects of quality and the advancement of translation applications at the service of the university and community. 

Tasks 

• To develop appropriate mechanisms for designing management systems to control the quality of the translation product across various activities of the Institute; 

• To design appropriate mechanisms to quality control academic publishing and performance in processing translation products, including designing, implementing and analyzing beneficiaries feedback and general questionnaires; 

• To supervise and follow up the establishment of a specialized library for translation; 

• To encourage research through competent channels and proposals of research activities and other support relating to performance quality in management, training, translation as outlined in the strategic plan of the Institute; 

•To organize academic/professional meetings and administer workshop about the issues relating to translation and Arabization in accordance with the priorities of the academic research in the university, priorities that encourage faculty members and researchers to carry out and consolidate academic research in the university. 

Research and Academic Forums Unit 

King Abdullah Institute for Translation and Arabization is keen to keep abreast of the up-to date developments and research in Translation Studies and its state-of-the-art techniques. In addition, the RAFU participates in producing innovative research and publishes it locally and internationally. This academic task is carried out by a number of academics specialized in Linguistics and Translation Studies. Additionally, the unit organizes academic activities including lectures, research forums, and workshops, and participates in such activities locally, regionally and internationally.

Academic Publishing Unit

 The tasks of this unit include:

• Pursuing the steps of publishing scientific books, as a service provided for the academic community inside and outside the university. 

• Obtaining permissions required for translating and publishing, purchasing the copyright of translation, following up the translation process, the academic refereeing process, and the printing procedures. The translation process starts when the translator fills an application and ends when sending copies to beneficiaries of the copyright as well as to selling and distribution outlets. 

Library & Technology Unit: The Institute Library 

Supporting research activities, development and quality requires interest in developing the Institute library providing it with resources and publications in different areas and activities. Again, to implement the strategic plan of the Institute, the library will be accessible to translators and researchers in translation.
