Overview

Undoubtedly, any human cultural progress would be impossible without the channels of communication in science and knowledge kept accessible to all peoples and civilizations: translation is one of the most important channels to achieve key objectives in this respect. Therefore, we are fully aware of the considerable significance of upgrading translation and translators in our peaceful country. The officials in charge of the Institute and its strategies have come to realise that the Institute is better divided into three main departments: Department of Translation, Department of Training, and Department of Research, Development and Quality. Additionally, the administration of the Institute – in accordance with its strategic plan – continues to recruit national and regional professionals and experts with the aim of developing human resources for ensuring sustained development and for realizing an academic training environment which promotes the institute to an international level. Officially, the Royal approval of the decree of the Council of Higher Education (No: 39/66/1432) to establish the Institute of Translation and Arabization, was issued in session number sixty-six held on 20/10/1432 H. The council's decision was based on an initial decision by Imam University Council number (Issue No: 2220-1430/1431 AH) taken in the sixth session held on 17/7/1431 H. effectively, the institute started to be operational on 30/1/1433 H.

I am pleased to welcome you to the official website of the King Abdullah Institute for Translation and Arabization (KAITA), which represents a scientific and cultural beacon that aims to enhance knowledge exchange between cultures and support the Arabic language in its path towards excellence and leadership in various scientific and academic fields.

The Institute was founded to play a key role in achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 by contributing to the transfer of science and knowledge from various languages into Arabic and from Arabic to other global languages. It also aims to highlight the vital role of translation and Arabization in facilitating access to knowledge for Arab societies, as well as enhancing cultural identity by providing accurate and reliable translations that enrich the Arabic library.

From this perspective, KAITA has set ambitious goals, including:

Translating the most prominent scientific works and academic books across multiple disciplines.
Supporting scientific research by Arabizing and standardizing terminology to serve researchers.
Offering specialized training programs to prepare qualified professionals in the fields of translation and Arabization.
Cooperating with local and international organizations on major translation projects that help build bridges of communication between peoples.

At KAITA, we believe that translation is not merely the transfer of words, but rather a means of conveying thought and knowledge and a tool for promoting civilizational dialogue between nations. Vision

To introduce and familiarize the Islamic and Arabic heritage by developing new models of communication to elucidate to the non-Arab speaking world the vast scholarlyachievements made by historical and contemporary figures from both the Islamic and Arab worlds.
To contribute in arabizing the different fields of knowledge and science and in transferring them to the recipients in a culturally acceptable format.

Mission

In order to enrich the theoretical and applied knowledge in the academic disciplines of the university in different languages, a stimulating environment staffed with highly qualified people in the fields of Translation and Arabizationis provided.
To meet the needs of everyone in society and fully express the international mission of the university, we aim to improve Translation and Arabization programs.
To acquire a prominent status that can not only compete with but also surpass other international and regional translation institutions.

Targets

To highlight the universal mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the efforts of the institute, by transporting all the scientific achievements of the scientists, researchers and faculty members in the Kingdome's universities and scientific centers in all fields to the recipients, worldwide.
To contribute in realizing the royal vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz for the scientific communication with the advanced countries; to establish mutual benefits with them, support dialogue among followers of other religions and cultures, and to take part in enriching the Arabic content in the e-publishing world.
To enrich the cultural and scientific content in various scientific fields by Arabizing specialized scientific books, references and sources.
To present a clear image of Al-Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud Islamic University which reflects its interest in the fields of Translation and Arabization.
To translate to other languages books, scientific periodicals and journals and distinguished researches issued by the university.
To back-translate early Arabic scientific books that have lost their original manuscripts.
To translate, unify and publicize scientific terminologies and create dictionaries for them with the collaboration of the academic departments of the university and other similar scientific institutes.
To translate and arabize documents, legislations, regulations, and conventions.
To provide a written translation, interpretations and translation revision services for the recipients inside and outside the kingdom.
To research the field of translation and publish the findings.
To prepare highly qualified translators and interpreters by training them on the required set of skills to perform interpretation and written translation.
To hold translation conferences, seminars, courses and workshops.
