Admission Requirements in the Unified Regulations for Postgraduate Studies in Universities

1: General Conditions:

The Unified Regulations for Postgraduate Studies at Universities specify the following conditions:

1- The applicant must be a Saudi, or on an official scholarship for graduate studies if he is a non-Saudi.

2- The applicant must have a university degree from a Saudi university or from another recognized university.

3 - To be of good conduct and behavior and medically fit.

4- To submit two scientific recommendations from professors who have previously taught it.

5- The approval of his reference to the study if he is an employee.

6- The original doctoral study is full-time, and the University Council may make an exception to this whenever the need arises.

7- The competent department may require the admission of the student to the master's and doctoral stages to pass a number of supplementary courses from a previous stage.

8- The student may not enroll in two graduate programs at once.

 2: University Conditions:

Article (XIII) of the Unified Regulations for Postgraduate Studies at Universities stipulates the following: "The Council of each university may add to these general conditions what it deems necessary."

Therefore, the University Council adopts some additional conditions such as determining the required grade, the score of the university aptitude test, admission and differentiation tests and so on.

It is announced annually when the online application portal for graduate programs is opened.

3: Conditions of the Scientific Department:

The Unified Regulations for Graduate Studies at Universities stipulate in several articles (15, 16, 17, 18) that the Council of the Deanship of Graduate Studies upon the recommendation of the Department Council and the endorsement of the College Council may add other conditions it deems necessary for admission.

Therefore, some scientific departments require additional special conditions for admission to their programs, such as: determining the specializations required for admission, requiring supplementary courses, memorizing parts of the Holy Quran, or English, or determining a score to test the abilities of university students, among others.

These conditions are announced when the electronic application portal for graduate programs is opened.

Criteria for differentiation between applicants and applicants for admission:

The University Council adopts the criteria for differentiation between applicants and applicants for admission according to the following criteria:

First criterion: Advanced average in university and master's degree.

The second criterion: aptitude test for university students.

Third criterion: written testing.

Fourth criterion: oral test (interview).

The percentage allocated to each criterion is announced at the request of the faculties and scientific departments when the electronic application portal for graduate programs is opened.

 

Second: Conditions of the University to apply for graduate programs:

    • The applicant must have a qualification (bachelor's for master's) regularly, with an average of at least (3.25 out of 5) or its equivalent, and an official equivalent to the certificate if it is from a non-Saudi university.
    • University degree by affiliation with an average of not less than (4 out of 5) or its equivalent according to the conditions of the scientific department.
    • To be admitted to the doctoral stage, it is required to obtain a grade of (very good) at least at the master's level.
    • Obtain a score of (70) or more in the aptitude test for university students before the closure of the admission gate, unless the scientific department requires a higher score.
    • Non-Saudis (non-scholarship students) with valid residency are entitled to apply for graduate programs (with tuition fees).
    • Admission to the Master's stage if the applicant is an employee requires the approval of the job authority to study.
    • Doctoral programs (with tuition fees) are excluded from the full-time requirement of study, noting that study in tuition fees programs is in the evening period.
    • The applicant must not be enrolled in a graduate program at any other university, or his registration has already been folded by a disciplinary decision or due to a breach of scientific honesty.
    • It is required to apply within the dates specified by the Deanship of Graduate Studies, and no applications are accepted outside those times whatever the justifications.

Third: The conditions of the scientific department to be applied for its program.

The applicant must meet the additional special conditions for admission to its programs, such as: specifying the required majors, English language, determining a score to test the abilities of undergraduates, or requiring supplementary courses. Those conditions have been clarified in detail in front of each program in the available     disciplines.


Validity period of conditional tests for admission to graduate      programs:


    • The validity of the university aptitude test is five years.
    • The validity of English language tests of all kinds is three years.

Admission to university

        It is a university education in which admission is once on summer leave, through the unified admission portal at public universities in Riyadh. Accordingly, the student is accepted directly into the scientific department he wishes to join after successfully passing the preparatory program. The study is regular and requires attendance and the approval of the employer if the applicant is on the job, and the graduate is awarded a bachelor's degree.

• After passing the first level of the preparatory program of two semesters, the competition is by 

Cumulative rate and seats available for student allocation at the second level of the preparatory program (in specialized tracks)

1- The applicant must have a secondary certificate from the scientific institutes of the University (for the good) 

Only, high school or their equivalent from inside or outside the Kingdom (tab and female students)

2. Has the secondary certificate been in secondary school for more than two years (the current year before it) for applicants for the path of health sciences, and for other tracks, it is required that the high school diploma be extended for more than a year. 

3- The applicant must be of good conduct and conduct medically

4. To be the most advanced

5. The applicant must obtain approval from his or her study reference if he or she works for any government or private entity.

6. Successfully pass any test or interview.

7. Admission to the path of health sciences, the applied and administrative path is limited to high school graduates.

Allocation controls in preparatory specialized tracks and colleges

Allocation after passing the standard preparatory track in accordance with the specified rates, wishes and numbers.

 Allocation is required in the Faculty of Medicine after passing the path of health sciences:

1. Pass all courses.

2. Obtain a score of 5.5 in the English language level test (IELTS, track) 

Academic (or equivalent in step or TOFEL test.

3. Get a cumulative rate of 4 out of 5 and above.

4. Obtain a special cumulative rate in science courses (biology, biochemistry, physics)

 The less than 75.3 out of 5, each decision should be estimated at less than 5.3 out of 5.

- The applicant for the engineering path receives a score of less than (67) in the STEP test.

- After passing the first semester in the language and translation process, the Faculty of Languages and Translation holds a test to determine who will live directly in college, and this is if the student achieves a score of 80, and if he doesn't the student should study complemented by another lobe in the preparatory course for languages and translation.

 

- Standardized electronic admission objectives​


    • Facilitate and standardize admission procedures in order to save students and their parents time and effort from the hardship of attending university or technical college headquarters, and to avoid repeated data entry at universities or technical colleges.
    • Increase the number of admissions actually in universities and technical college by not repeating the student's admission on more than one hand and reducing waste in seats due to the withdrawal of some female students.
    • Take advantage of the seats available at public universities and the Technical College in Riyadh and make the best investment of the possibilities available at each university or technical college.
    • Enable the student to apply to more than one university and technical college at the same time as the student wishes with the possibility of identifying the appropriate alternatives.
    • Clarity and transparency in admission procedures, ensuring equal and fair opportunities for all in accordance with the admission criteria adopted for each discipline.

 Opening the door of allocation for students of preparatory programs for the first semester of the academic year 1442 AH

        The Deanship of Admission and Registration Affairs announces the period of filling the wishes of the students of the preparatory programs in the applied and administrative track, and the students must enter the self-services and register their wishes electronically starting from Sunday 15-3-1442 AH until Thursday 26-3-1442 AH, by following the steps described in the guideline to fill out the wishes, and the amendment of wishes will be available until the end of the period.

The Deanship apologizes for receiving any paper application, and those who do not enter their wishes within the specified period will be allocated according to the available.

The results will be sorted and students will be accommodated in the track based on:

- Order of desires.

- Rate.

- Absorption capacity of the specialization.

- College requirements.

she referred to the great occasion that the university enjoyed, namely the honor of accepting the custodian of the two holy mosques, king Salman bin Abdul-Aziz, for his honorary doctorate in the field of service of the holy Quran and its sciences.

Management club presents the success stories of its creative students before graduating

                   The faculty of economics and management sciences, represented by the management club, presented successful and creative experiences to a number of female students during a meeting organized by the title "journey of determination", which aims to spread the successful experiences of female students in several economic and scientific fields.

During the meeting, student heba al-shamlan talked about her success story through her participation in the technical field in several international and international competitions, indicating that she did not succeed in qualifying for the victory, but this did not prevent her from insisting on participating more than once in more than one competition until she succeeded, and talked about her feelings when she ran for the final prize in one of the important technical competitions, noting that she aims to share the real image of muslim women in international competitions, she said she represented the kingdom for the second time in the world in a robotics competition.

Student reem al-maiman pointed out that her success story began by volunteering at a charity café at the world symposium for islamic youth by overseeing the budget of one of the awareness projects and managing workers and productivity of the project, noting that she faced many difficulties, including the weakness of financial resources in the budget and the inability to achieve all the criteria of successful management in the first period, indicating that she was able to cooperate with the team diligence and avoid these obstacles.

Al-mayman pointed out during the meeting that after two months the obstacles began to decay and reduce until the café recovered half of the capital through competitions and challenges for individuals within the seminar, and at the end of the semester the café succeeded in gaining a lot of customers through the cooperation of the team and the participation of some producing families.

Student gida al salama talked about her success story, which was represented in her marketing of some programs at the international symposium for islamic youth, which made her passionate about marketing from a young age, and al-salama showed that she started the university stage in the department of finance and banking and only left to graduate only a semester, but because of her love for marketing and her passion for it, she decided to learn herself through social networks and buy books and training on them until she succeeded in turning to the marketing department and returning two full years of her life, but she said she has no regrets and is happy with the department, studies it with passion and enthusiasm and believes she has a big future after graduation.

The organizers distributed some leaflets about the management club in addition to guidance boards for the event, where the club aims to enhance administrative knowledge through activities and training courses and mix systematic and extracurricular activities to activate its role in bringing about a qualitative shift in administrative awareness in a fun and useful template, providing consultancy and administrative services and documenting and publishing student production in all fields, and graduating young administrative cadres effective in its specialization, and the club aspires to leadership and creativity in the administrative fields to reach the world, to establish generations with the necessary knowledge, skills and values to build a well-crafted management practitioner with management services and consultancy to bring about a qualitative shift in administrative awareness and contribute to the service of the community.

40% of faculty members in Saudi universities are women​

             Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Abu Amma, consultant at the center for research and studies in higher education, said that the percentage of female faculty members in saudi universities rose to 40% in 2014 while they accounted for 33% in 2005, while female students currently make up about 25% of students in external education programs.

During a meeting organized by the king saud chair for higher education studies in cooperation with the agency of the faculty of social sciences for graduate studies at the center for students entitled: scientific research in the field of higher education in saudi arabia trends and challenges and in the presence of dr. hilla al fayez, to the characteristics of saudi higher education, he stated: most of the growth in universities after the first seven universities and the main is a frequent breeding or branch of those universities of origin except king abdullah university of science and technology, stressing that most universities today, it includes all scientific, theoretical, literary, medical and engineering disciplines and is witnessing a large turnout from across the community.

Registration of courses for students of regularity for the first semester of the academic year 1444 AH​

          The Deanship of Admission and Registration announces the start of registration of courses for students of regularity for the first semester of the academic year 1444 AH, through self-services starting from Sunday 02-01-1444 AH corresponding to 31-07-2022 AD at 8 am for students, and at 12 pm for female students, and continues until Saturday 8-01-1444 AH corresponding to 06/08/2022 AD.

2- We hope that all students (who are not struggling and defaulting) will directly register through self-services and not rely on automated registration for them.

3- The maximum number of hours of the academic schedule is (18) hours according to the available from the study divisions without conflict or exceeding the requirement.

4- The minimum hours of the academic schedule is (8) hours, and it is forbidden to withdraw from the courses below them.

5- If the student's average falls below (2) after the results of the summer semester appear, the study schedule will be deleted.

6- The student can register the required course (if the prerequisite is registered in his schedule in the summer semester) and when he does not pass the prerequisite the requirement will be deleted from his schedule.

       The Deanship of Admission and Registration, represented by the Academic Advising Center (Female Section), held several introductory campaigns on the university's regulations, academic regulations, and the rights and duties of female students during the period from 18/3 to 21/3/1443 AH. The campaigns were carried out in two phases (in-person, and remotely) at the headquarters of the Deanship of Admission and Registration. On this occasion, Dr. Arwa Al-Omran, Deputy Dean of Admission and Registration for Female Students' Affairs, expressed the importance of such courses, which come within the activities of the Academic Advising Center in order to raise the awareness of students and raise their awareness of the university's rules and regulations, and to introduce the rights and duties of the university student and to know the responsible authorities to facilitate the student's access to full rights in accordance with the laws and regulations, as the main objective of academic advising is to help students at all stages of their  ​university.​
